Ranveer has acquired the reputation of a scene-stealing actor who orchestrates the entire marketing strategy of a film to his own advantage.


With Ranveer Singh already in the picture as Kapil Dev, director Kabir Khan and his producers Phantom Films are finding it hard to cast the other actors to play the other cricketers.

A source says, "The film was introduced to the media as a film based on the historic 1983 World Cup series. However only Ranveer Singh, who plays Kapil Dev, showed up. Apparently the producers want to sign A-list and B-list actors to play the distinguished members of the cricket team namely Sunil Gavaskar, Mohinder Amarnath, Sandeep Patil and others. But with Ranveer already in the cast, finding other equally weighty actors has become an issue.

Apparently, Ranveer has acquired the reputation of a scene-stealing actor who orchestrates the entire marketing strategy of a film to his own advantage. "Ask Shahid Kapoor if he wants to work again with Ranveer Singh after Padmavati, a source sniggers.

Of course other actors won't want to play the roles when you have a press conference just to announce the movie with Ranveer for one of the roles.

I don't think any A lister will sign up now that they have already promoted this movie as Ranveer's. Maybe B listers will since its a huge project. But seriously why did they throw up an event already if their cast is not ready and they want big names along with Ranveer. 😕

gavaskar & amarnath were major players
esp sunny gavaskar who is a legend
if ranveer a known face and a-list plays kapil
the makers can't show someone lesser as gavaskar.
it'd be a difficult casting hope they do justice to them.

LOL, doesnt look like makers wanted any other big star in the movie anyways, else they wont have announced it so early with just Ranveer in it.


This is more like a PR one who sounds rather insecure of Ranveer, so much so that it gives Shahid Kapoor's example - the one who in his entire career had only 1 memorable promotional gimmick that too an MMS leak with the lead actress 🤣 . Anyways! 😆

I know right. But have to say the man can swing mean bat. He was terrific as Dhoni. Couldn't hurt to see him swing bat again as another legend. 1983 win was such an epic. It was not one man show. More than few pulled through. India was in underdog place...😃
