I am more elated with the fact that Deepika is being compared to one of the most Iconic,Versatile and Talented actresses ever to grace the silver screen.

The question you have posed becomes insignificant.

All 90s heroines were quite OTT in acting may be because that was the style of moviemaking those days. Kajol amongst them was slightly better.

Deepika is indeed better in acting than Madhuri mainly because the roles played now in BW are quite subtle and requires a range of expressions minus dialogs even in mainstream movies which gives more chance of exploring. Piku, Veronica and Leela all were good, Tara, CE character and Naina overshadowed the heroes in the movies.

But yet to see Deepika shining in few roles like Chandramukhi (where Priyanka indeed took the cake from her) which is poetic and was excelled by Madhuri. Will be able to draw the comparison in a better way then.

Lol, in which universe? I agree that DP has improved from her past days, but she still has a long way to go. She hasn't played many different roles yet. She was good in Piku and Cocktail but sucked in BM, so she needs to be more consistent as well.

Also, at times, I feel that DP is over-rated as the best actress etc. To be honest, she did not have much competition when she started to get acknowledged as a good actress. It was the time when actresses like PC, KK, Rani Mukherjee, PZ and Vidya Balan were slowly phasing out of the industry. Put her with actresses like them and she would have only been known as a good actress, but not really the best actress around. Plus, she has played somewhat more different roles than her peers, but still not enough to be deemed as truly versatile.

If she was acting during the time of Madhuri and Sridevi or even during the time when there was intense competition between PC, KK, Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan, I feel that she would have been nowhere near the list of top actresses partly due to the sheer diversity of roles played by the aforementioned actresses.

This is my honest critique of DP, not bashing her.
