Is Madhuri Dixit the biggest icon of all time? Being biggest icon & greatest actress isn't the same thing. My question is has there ever been a more iconic actress than her in the industry?
To me, she's by far the biggest female superstar ever of India. I've heard so many stories about her, not sure if its true that during the Kargil War of 1999 between India and Pakistan, the neighboring soldiers asked the Indian Armed Forces to handover her in exchange for Kashmir. 😆
Men literally used to drool over her in the 90's whenever she appeared on the screen, they didn't care who was the hero, used to visit theaters just to get a glimpse of hers. Her craze was something else. Even tho she had debuted in the early 80's but she's still very much relevant and a household name even today. There was a time when she was hailed as the female Amitabh Bachchan of the Hindi film industry. In 2000, she was hailed as "The Actress of the Millennium".
Also, In the Millennium Edition of Guinness Book of World Records she is reported as the Highest Paid Indian Actress Ever. Then in 2001, she was named among the Top Five Most Powerful Indian Movie Stars by Forbes (though her peak years were from 1990-95) & so on. She's been given countless honorable awards even after that, so not going to mention them all.
She's really one of a kind. Best complete package Bollywood has ever produced IMO. Yes, there have been many other actresses too who've seen super stardom but no one has ever went onto the same level of stardom/success as Madhuri. ❤️
