Maya is the owner of the Fashion & the City. The special thing about her is that she has got underworld connections in which she gets her things done but her name is not there in any of the police records. She had a rough childhood. Her father Ashwin Mehrotra had married Jhanvi for the property.
Flashback
Jhanvi was in love with Ashwin but her father, Om had opposed to her marriage with Ashwin as he is from a middle-class family. Ashwin comes to Jhanvi's place to bring the proposal to her father for their marriage. His Assistant does not feel good about Ashwin. He said, "Sir is busy at the meeting. I don't know when it will end. Do one thing, when you come, please make a call.
The assistant gives him the visiting card. Ashwin leaves. The meeting ends. Om comes out. The assistant is working as Om's helper. He has been a well-wisher for the Agarwals.
Om: Did anyone come to my office.
Adhikari: Yes sir. He is Ashwin Mehrotra. I sent him back as I found him to be too good to be true. He is not a right person for our Jhanvi. It is better that you find a good boy for Jhanvi & get her married.
Om: Fine.
He goes to Jhanvi & asked, "What am I hearing about you?
Jhanvi is confused.
Om: I heard that you are in love with Ashwin but he does not belong to our class and he is a weird person.
Jhanvi: You have heard right. He wanted to speak to you but you were busy at the meeting. Just meet him once.
Om: I know him pretty well. He can love but cannot keep up to that.
Jhanvi: No he loves me a lot & can do anything for me.
Om: Is it your final decision?
Jhanvi: Yes, it is.
Om: Then I will strike your name from the property we have.
Jhanvi: So you will throw me onto the streets if I don't marry according to your choice.
Om: Absolutely
Jhanvi: How can you do that? You cannot be so cruel.
She remembers her mother and cries.
Om: Your tears won't have any effect on me. I have a guy in my mind. He belongs to our class & is the right one for you. He is our business partner & you know that he is Tej Singh Oberoi. We will finalize the relationship tomorrow. I don't want you to create a scene.
The next day, they go to the Oberoi Mansion. Tej & Dadi approve Jhanvi.
The Agarwals and the Oberoi's finalizes the relationships.
Tej and Jhanvi get married. However, their marriage is loveless and unhappy. Jhanvi is pregnant. Tej begins to have an extra-marital affair with Svetlana of which the family was not aware. Jhanvi finds it out and said, "I understand that our marriage is loveless as we have not spent much time with each other after our honeymoon. But what mistake did I make that you are planning to marry Svetlana?
Tej: I have never loved you in my life. I had agreed to marry you on my mom's insistence and for expanding my business. I have always loved Svetlana.
Jhanvi: You know that I'm pregnant with your child.
Tej: I know. I can give you financial support and give you my name to you and your child. Don't expect any love from me.
Jhanvi gets shattered.
Tej, as usual, goes to the office and wins Om's trust. He said, "You are giving all the property to Jhanvi. She has not even seen the face of 200 crores. Instead of that, you can put it in my name as we know each other. I will take care of her.
Om: That is for her security as life is unpredictable.
Tej: That is also correct.
Om then calls Jhanvi and the Oberois after the advocate comes to read the will. In that will, Om had written all the property in Jhanvi's name. Tej was upset as he planned to marry Svetlana after capturing Jhanvi's property.
Jhanvi delivers a girl child. The family names her as Maya. Tej goes to Jhanvi and said, "Let's forget the past and start a new life. I have a gift for you.
He gives her the papers in the envelope.
Jhanvi: What is written in that?
Tej: Do you trust me?
Jhanvi: Yes, I do.
Jhanvi tries to read them before signing but Tej said, "Please sign otherwise I will think you don't trust me.
Jhanvi: I want to read that for my satisfaction.
Tej: It means that you don't trust me.
Jhanvi signs the paper. Tej smirks. He goes to Svetlana and said, "I never thought that I will fool Jhanvi so easily.
Svetlana: You are a genius.
Jhanvi overhears the conversation and feels cheated. As soon as he came home, Jhanvi said, "So you have cheated me. I thought you had changed.
Tej: You are a fool to think like that. I always had an eye on your property. I had married you only for that.
The Oberois overhear their conversation. They are shocked as Tej had married one more lady earlier. Even her name was Jhanvi. He has 2 sons from that marriage. They are Omkara & Rudra. His brother Shakti Singh Oberoi is married to Kamini who had delivered twins. They are Shivaay and Mahi. Both Omkara & Rudra hated Tej for the cause of his mother's suicide. Shivaay has been taking care of Mahi, Omkara, and Rudra. Kamini hated Mahi as he is not mentally developed whereas she always applauded Shivaay as he is smart & intelligent. Shakti has been giving more importance to Maahi which irritated Kamini.
Dadi goes to Tej and said, "I am ashamed of calling you as my son. You have cheated on both my daughters-in-law. What harm did they do to you? What harm did the Agarwals do to you?
Tej: I always wanted to marry Svetlana but you didn't agree. If I marry according to my choice I won't cheat on her.
Dadi: Fine, you marry her but there is no place for you in OM. From now on, I have only one son & that is Shakti. But for that, you have to divorce Jhanvi.
Tej: I have her signature.
He shows the papers which Jhanvi had signed & leaves the house. Tej marries Svetlana.
Dadi decides to get Jhanvi remarried so as to give her justice. Ashwin comes to OM with the proposal for Jhanvi.
The Oberois agree & inform Om.
Dadi: I am sorry for what Tej had done to your daughter.
Om: I have made a big mistake. I should have met Ashwin before coming to conclusion. Come home with your child, Jhanvi.
Jhanvi: I don't want to look at your face. You have ruined my life. You got me married to Tej only for expanding your business. Tej has divorced me after taking all our property.
Om Agarwal gets a heart attack & dies immediately.
Jhanvi screams, "Dad!"
Om's last rites are performed.
Dadi: Whatever has happened, we cannot change. Life gave you a second chance.
The Oberoi's get Jhanvi married to Ashwin & restores the property in her & Maya's name.
Maya becomes big and starts going to school but Ashwin changes & he starts hating Maya as it reminded him of Jhanvi's betrayal & he had lost his child when she saved Maya from Tej who wanted to take her, not because he loved Maya but wanted to trouble her.
Jhanvi cries as Ashwin too begins to have an affair with Shipra.
Maya: Don't cry, mom. People who made us cry should shed tears.
She grows up with the feeling of avenging the injustice that is done to Jhanvi. She completes her education. Jhanvi is in contact with the Oberois but does not want to go there.
Flashback ends.
Maya hates Tej & Ashwin equally.
One day dadi comes to Agarwal house. She said, "Maya, you can come to OM with your mom. We will take care of her.
Maya: I will come but after completing my revenge from Ashwin for putting my mom in this condition.
Dadi: We will take Jhanvi to a good doctor.
Maya: What is his name?
Dadi: Vijay Agnihotri.
Maya: She is taking the treatment under the same doctor.
Dadi: I know that you have been taking good care of Jhanvi & also been managing your activities very well. I guess you need a break now. Even after coming to OM, you can still take care of The Fashion & The City.
Maya agrees. Both mother & the daughter come to OM. Shivaay, Om & Rudra welcome them.
