I always feel that it can't be just a bad marriage that would lead to someone taking such a big painful step. I mean who actually wants to be dead unless they have literally no hope left?
The woman had a bad husband but if her parents or friends had supported her, she would have seen at least one door open and moved on. But guess she had all doors shut on her. Hence, the need to want to end the suffocation. I don't want to be judgemental of such people. We don't know her mental state and her emotional/psychological condition.
Her parents wanted her to llve with the abusive husband. And friends - least said the better. These days it is almost impossible to find true friends who would stand by you in your difficult times and listen to your sad story when you have nothing better to feel or talk about. Most of the people just want to have fun and call you weak or gossip about you if you reveal your vulnerabilities. It's their moment of feeling better about themselves and act arrogant. Ironic.
In such a civilization scenario, women like these maybe just can't hang on anymore. Maybe it effects them mentally in ways we do not understand yet.

I actually agree with someone here who said, just hang on. You just have to have some kind of strength inside that would keep you working towards a better life. Sometimes you have to be selfish and not worry about the society's opinion or for that matter even your family at times. And slow baby step successes can make so much difference unless all you want are shortcuts, in which case you need to work much harder and while you are working hard at things that can make it better, it will probably take your mind off the rest of the bad shit that can make you weak. Works either way.

My sincere Condolences to the family and I hope she rests in peace.
Our reflexes work pretty fast in any kind of pain be it a burn, a pinch or even a scratch. So to take one's life must take immense courage. However, the situation varies. In this particular case it is extremely sad.

Didn't wanted to comment but seeing so much ignorance towards victims.
Remember these wise words said

"The so-called psychotically depressed' person who tries to kill herself doesn't do so out of quote hopelessness' or any abstract conviction that life's assets and debits do not square. And surely not because death seems suddenly appealing. The person in whom Its invisible agony reaches a certain unendurable level will kill herself the same way a trapped person will eventually jump from the window of a burning high-rise. Make no mistake about people who leap from burning windows. Their terror of falling from a great height is still just as great as it would be for you or me standing speculatively at the same window just checking out the view; i.e. the fear of falling remains a constant. The variable here is the other terror, the fire's flames: when the flames get close enough, falling to death becomes the slightly less terrible of two terrors. It's not desiring the fall; it's terror of the flames. And yet nobody down on the sidewalk, looking up and yelling Don't!' and Hang on!', can understand the jump. Not really. You'd have to have personally been trapped and felt flames to really understand a terror way beyond falling."

I too didn't want to comment but... it's true.. I never knew the feeling could be explained like this. It's so easy to call them cowards/escapists/etc/etc, but if only they could even get a glimpse into what goes on within..

The terror eats one up from inside, physical pain is of least concern, I could say much but anyway, it's of no use, I think it's unfair to expect others who don't know what it's like to understand... I myself used to think that those who commit suicide are wrong and all.

EDIT -- Also, by saying that a person could do a lot and that suicide is not a solution, the suicidal person is not feeling suicidal for pleasure. It's not an idea, it's not just a feeling... it's a terror that keeps engulfing you from inside. The person for whatever reason that may look ridiculous to others is feeling that way... his reasons and feelings are his reality!
If he was in a position to take in words like "you are an escapist, you are weak-minded, you don't know that value of life etc etc etc", he wouldn't be in that position. All a person would need is someone to treat them respectfully or with dignity.
Yes, life shouldn't be wasted over another person or a marriage, but who will tell that person? Will a suicidal person stop feeling suicidal just because you say "life is not be wasted" . She feels a certain way, her reality is different from others' and it's over.. it's all just sad, but don't look down upon her.
