In 2010, Anand Mahindra gave Harvard University's Humanities Centre a US $10 million cheque. Now, wife Anuradha's fashion and lifestyle magazine, tying in with the Harvard Business School, hosted a notable evening on Friday at a Colaba fivestar hotel's rooftop banquet. The university's professor of business history, Geoffrey Jones, anchored the panel that saw actor Sonam Kapoor, cosmetologist Dr Jamuna Pai, psychiatrist Dr Pervin Dadachanji, beauty entrepreneur and Hemendra Kothari's daughter Shuchi Kothari and Vivek Gambhir, MD of Godrej Consumer Products. Jones was the keynote speaker, discussing Beauty: Limiting or Liberating' with some pointers on the business and marketing of beauty.
While the panel soon enough turned apologists for twisted ideas of beauty, the clincher came from fashion aesthete Sonam Kapoor. She once stated she was considered in the same league as Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif, and at another time that directors would tell her she looks too good and ask her to look a little more ordinary. Guess she didn't mind the taste of her stiletto in her mouth.
