Kusum Chopra's novel is a very recent one and if I may it is heavily inspired by that Marathi novel called Rau on which the movie was based as well.

The part of Bundelkhand that was supposed to be handed over to Bajirao, did never come to him. And it is kind of warranted though. Chhatrasal had relations with multiple women and sons from them. It was natural for them revolt against the decision made by a dying man. Had the land been given to Bajirao then I would have been more suprised.

As far as Mastani is concerned then her supposed relation to the Mastan troupe is something I came to know from a documentary aired much before the movie or the novel came in existence. The letter of Deviki Nandan too has been mentioned. And it kind of make sense, the Mastan troupe frequented Patbal, Saswad and Pune and lot and Mastani's real name is not known. Many historians agree that the name Mastani was actually due to the rumoured association of hers with this said troupe.

This validation marriage I believe is root cause of all the fantastic legends that have come into being. The Brahmins of that age did practice polygamy but it was strictly among the Brahmin circle. Even in the 18th century Bengal and adjoining regions this was a prevelant norm. While initially there had been a lot of debates and discussion over Mastani's origin today it's a unanimously accepted belief that she was a Rajput princess though an illegitimate one.

I remember it was Dr. Anand's words that had my interest piqued in Mastani. She had said that the woman was a warrior and a political creature who earned her place among the common people of Pune. Unfortunately there has hardly been a series or adaptation that has shown her in the same light. The movie, the Marathi series, the novels and this series as well is a massive disappointment in every sense. Yes she had been married to Rau though it wasn't recognised. Yes she loved him and give versa but my question is was that only aspects of her? Why do historicals have to rest on live stories only? The socio-political scenario of the century makes no sense or what?

Rajputs towards the end of monarchy had began liberally imbibing the norms of Mughals. Having wives of different religions and faith, siring illegitimate children and what not. This is also one of the reasons why the historians now agree that Mastani was a Rajput though not of pure lineage. But even then she was a princess so she would have been brought up in luxury and would have had a happy life. Painting a sad picture of hers just to pique our sympathies is not done. This is not what I had signed up for while watching the series.

Radhabai was a brilliant woman there is no denying the fact. I personally believe that you need to be ruthless and cunning to hold a seat of power. If Radhabai had taken a soft demeanor I don't think Peshwai would survive a day. She needed to wield an iron fist to hold the reigns tightly. And queens are supposed to be like that. A lineant queen can never make a legend out of a king.

Yeah exactly, the episode is helluva boring, I can completely understand why you don't update after these kind of worse episodes. Even today's episode was no less than yesterday. PB's episodes nowadays are not worthy enough to watch at least for me, neither am I getting entertained nor I am able to watch any good history of Peshwa Bajirao. You said right, I also agree that only Chimna is perfect post leap and only I can connect with him, he is the only one whom I believe, yeah, little Chimna has grown up. And this Peshwa Balaji and Radhabai are completely strangers to me. I so miss the old days of PB now where there were no added masala to the story. Those good old days with Aurangzeb, Tararani, Dhanaji, Shahuji, Shivaraje, little Baji-Bhiu-Chimna-Gotya and their cutest bonding, Radhabai and Balaji's heavenly chemistry where Balaji calling Radhabai by SARKAR unlike Peswa saheb and Peshwin bai themselves respectively...

If indeed Balaji confessed to an affair, Radhabai's change over is completely understandable. She is left only with position in life and she upholds that. She has seen the man she so firmly trusted change and sees everyone as capable of changing. She is sometimes soft only to Kashi as she sees her earlier self in her.

And what again is Baji 's problem with Kashi . He has seen her stand for truth against her own family and was no more the ladakoo little girl he didn't like. Then why such willful aloofness from her!

The actress playing Kashi has such childishness and longing about her that I am already beginning to see Mastani as an intruder. And if Baji is going to be indifferent to Kashi even he will lose appeal. It is one thing to fall in love helplessly even against his principles and resolve and duty to his wife. But another to ignore the poor girl as though she was an unwanted guest in his life, AFTER using her father's wealth to establish a rule of which he was a Peshwa ' s son.

Agree with you...If CVs have shown the reason behind Radhabai's change instead of throwing hints, it would've been far better. And why along all these years, Baji and Chimna didn't notice the indifference between their parents and tried to figure it out what's exactly the case, but no they are unaware just like us. And maybe we can connect to the character iff Anuja wouldn't quit for the role post leap whom we are so used to watch in the role, but this sudden change in the character with the new face doesn't gel with what they've shown for 100 episodes.

already so many major political events are being skipped which were interesting & would have been some prime parts .

its recognizable now that radhabai has got betrayed in life . despite of being such a devoted wife , in all the struggles of life she always stood by her husband , also she gave good education to her children & gave good upbringing to them .

i think we were so used to that old radhabai who had so much warmth in her that suddenly this one does not strike a chord with us . since they had to make radhabai this way so they changed the actor , anuja too mentioned she was signed to play radhabai till leap only & makers had this thing in mind from the start .

am really disappointed with the storyline , mastani was really not needed now .
by every episode they are rising that yearning in kashibai , only to break her heart & hurt her sentiments miserably .
& bajji the way he is being showed now , i don't think think he would ever be liked by the audience...😆

You said my unsaid words. CV's have moved away from Tararani and such good political stuffs to focus on some extra spicy tracks with Mastani and Baji becoming obsessed with her and so busy in moving to the love triangle, why would they show such non-masaladar tracks!!! And how they are portraying Baji, I can't believe that its the same Baji whom I had loved so much for the 100 episodes. Why can't they show a warm friendship between Baji and Kashi instead of portraying him bad? And the Bundelkhand drama or politics whatever it may be was so so boring, I was feeling to change the channel to bless myself.
