Well I'm not indian, so I'm not aware of the judicial system in india, but an ACP is the assistant commissioner of police, which I'm guessing is like the second highest rank among the police force in india or that specific state or city (is there a different commissioner and ACP for different states or cities, or are there just one of each role for the entire of india)???
If I'm right, then it truly doesn't make sense for Neil, being the ACP, to be sat at a desk in an ordinary police station. The commissioner of police I think is meant to be the boss of the entire police force, then the ACP (Neil) is only questionable to the commissioner, but all the other inspectors and police officers and constables are underneath the ACP and questionable to him, right?
I think what's going on here is that these indian serial writers seem to use ACP and head inspector interchangeably, which is strange considering it is their own country, so how can they mix the two up, because i think there is meant to be a head inspector assigned to each station in an area and maybe a few police officers who work in co-ordination with the inspector under his orders, and then you have the ordinary police constables who assist the inspector and his officers in making arrests and the police constables also are in charged of the police cells too. Then above all of the inspectors, officers and constables should be the ACP who is subservient to the top boss, the commissioner.
I remember during the amol kidnapping track, Neil had used his authority as an ACP to contact another police inspector from that town, mahabaleshwar I believe, and introduced himself as ACP then ordered the inspector o was it a traffic cop to let Amol's friend go. i don't know. Indian serials always make a mess of these kind of things, but Neil's role as ACP is misrepresented. They made the same mistake in yeh hai mohabbatein with ACP abhishek's role.
