Hey guys. I'm generally a silent reader, but I recently got addicted to this song, and I just had to write this OS. It's the first OS I have written, so please forgive me if I have made any mistakes. I hope you guys like it. And also please do comment, all constructive criticism welcome!! Lots of love, Nicky 😊
RiKara OS: Tu Thodi Der Aur Thehar Ja
Dil charkhe ki ik tu dori
Dil charkhe ki ik tu dori
Sufi iska rang haaye
Gauri silently took out all her hangers from the wardrobe, leaving Om's cupboard half empty and colourless. Slowly taking off all of the clothes from the hangers, she neatly folded them before placing them carefully into her bag. Who was she kidding? She knew whatever she was doing was just a way of trying to spend as much time in Oberoi Mansion as possible. As much time with him as possible. But it couldn't be like that forever, could it?
Ismein jo tera khwaab piroya
Ismein jo tera khwaab piroya
Neendein bani patang
She felt his presence in the room, before she even heard him. In the past four months, his heartbeat had become more familiar than her own. She stopped herself from looking back, because she knew she would fall weak if she did. Her heart slammed faster in her chest, as he came closer and closer till she could feel his breath on her neck. Her breaths became shallow and she momentarily closed her eyes and leaned into him, inhaling his scent for the last time. The last four months had taken their toll. She had never been a dreamer, but now he was all she dreamt about. It would have been better not to dream at all, because all she had left was broken dreams... and a broken heart. She wanted to turn, wanted to tell him everything she was feeling but she didn't. She couldn't. Jerking her eyes open, she quickly shifted to her makeshift mandir, placing it carefully into her bag, erasing all her marks from the room. One by one.
Dil bharta nahi
Aankhein rajjti nahi
Dil bharta nahi
Aankhen rajjti nahi
Chaahe kitna bhi dekhti jaaun
Waqt jaaye main rok na paaun
He didn't follow her. What right did he have to be so close to her? She was working for him, he had paid her mother's hospital bills and in return she had pretended to be his wife for four months. He himself had said that the relationship between them was never and could never be that of a husband and wife. But then why did he feel pain at the thought of her leaving? Why did he just want to keep staring at her? He drank in her form through his eyes, capturing her whole being, hoping it was enough to get him through the rest of his time without her. But his heart couldn't have enough. The more he looked, the more his heart wanted. Why did this have to be so complicated? Time was slipping from his hands right in front of his eyes. She was going to leave his house, his room, him, forever and there seemed nothing he could do about it.
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja sohneya
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja zaalima
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja...
She wanted to stay back. She wanted him to stop her. That's all it would take. One word and she wouldn't go. But would he ever say it? She laughed at her own fate. Being so close to him, she had no right on him. No right to stay, no right to ask him to stop her. She had felt him change over the months. From his intense hatred, to understanding and maybe even more. But she was just an employee, someone who worked and was paid for it. Nothing more. Then why did she snese that he also felt something for her, as she felt from him? Something more than what they had said to each other. A deeper connection, an unexplainable desire, to be close to each other, to be around each other. But now, they were going to be so far apart, that they wouldn't ever be able to reach each other. But she wanted to stay, just a bit longer, just a bit...
Haaye din tere bin ab jee na paaye
Din tere bin ab jee na paaye
Saans na leti raat
Ishq kare tere honthon se
Ishq kare mere honthon se
Bas ik teri baat
He wanted to stop her so badly. Wanted to tell her that he had gotten used to her in a way that he would be lost if she left. He had gotten used to her glucose biscuit wali chai. Her dabang style. Her broken English. Her tinkling payal. Her morning pooja. He had gotten used to her hovering around him 24/7. He had gotten used to holding her close, even if it was to show everyone that they were together. And now after this, she was going to leave him like everyone else. With just a hole where his heart was meant to be, and no hope for the future. He felt as if he wouldn't be able to live without her. He walked up to her, as she was steadily removing all the jewellery she wore. It hurt him that she didn't want to take a single memory from her time here. None of the clothes maa had gifted her, none of the jewellery she had received, not even the bracelet Anika Bhabhi had given her. Did she want to forget this place that badly? Was staying here torture for her? He saw her hands move towards her mangalsutra and before he knew it he had stopped her. He could see everything else, but not her removing the only thing that still tied him to her. But why? It all meant nothing now. Then why did he still want her to feel connected to him? Her chocolate brown eyes turned to him, asking the same question. He could feel her heartbeat, in tune with his own. He moved his hand to her face, caressing her cheek. His thumb brushed against her lips, the same lips he had wanted to capture with his own many ties in the past month. Their eyes never left each other for even a moment, till she abruptly moved away, leaving him longing for more.
Teri doori na sahun
Door khud se rahun
Teri doori na sahun
Door khud se rahun
Tere pehlu mein hi reh jaaun
Tu hi samjhan jo main chaahun
She couldn't stand to be away from him, but she knew that this was the only way. And somewhere she felt that he too couldn't stay far from her. But it was no use thinking of this now. Separating herself from him was the hardest thing she had done. It killed her to see him like that, and it killed her more to think that she would never feel the warmth of his hand resting on her cheek. Never would she be able to lean against him, even if just for a moment. Staying here was torture, because the longer she stayed, the less she wanted to leave. She couldn't bear to take anything with her, as it would just remind her of how far she was from him. Just as she was leaving him behind, she was leaving herself behind as well. Because staying away from him was the same as staying away from herself.
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja sohneya
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja zaalima
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja...
The last clothes went in and she zipped her bag, ready to leave forever. Taking her bag, he led her into the main hall. No one was here. She couldn't leave in front of them, for they didn't know the truth. And neither would they let her leave since they had grown attached to her. But so had he, and yet here he was. Letting his life slip away from him. He didn't want her to leave. Not now, not ever. But neither could he stop her, for he had no rights on her. Being husband and wife, he had no rights on her and that is what broke him the most. But couldn't she stay, just a bit longer, just a bit...
Nahiyo lagna, nahiyo lagna
Tere bin dil mera
Dil minnate kare
Na tu ja na pare
Dil minnate kare
Na tu ja na pare
Tere jaane se jee na paaun
He walked forward, attempting to drop her outside. But she stopped him. This was already too hard for her and she needed to do this alone. She reached down and grabbed her bag. Why didn't he just stop her? Couldn't he grab her wrist, as he had done so many times before, and tell her to stay with him forever? She paused, just a second longer, just to give him another chance. But he was still.
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja sohneya
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja zaalima
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja..
It wasn't that he didn't know why she paused. But he didn't have the courage to give her what she wanted. He didn't have the courage to say that she meant the world to him. He didn't have the courage to say that he had been so wrong in judging her, and that he was so sorry for putting her through everything. He was too ashamed of himself, of his deeds to stop her. He saw the disappointment in her eyes, the hurt and the accusations of being weak, so weak that he couldn't even save this relationship. She turned around, slowly walking to the door. Yet her heart still wanted for him to call out, just once. Call her name and tell her to stop, to come back, to be with him forever. She slowed as she neared the front door, hoping that she could stay just a bit longer.
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja zaalima
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja.. thehar ja
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja zaalima..
Tu thodi der aur thehar ja
Tu thodi der.. bas thodi der aur thehar ja
He didn't call her name. He didn't stop her. He wasn't deserving of her, of her love. This was for the better.
Realising his silence, she took a deep breath and stepped out of the door, and out of his life, forever.
