OKAY, there's one thought that's gnawing at me and I have to get it out of my system. I think there have been enough discussions about Omkara's erratic behaviour, though I don't condone his actions in any way, I think the disconnect we are feeling is largely because his narrative is missing from the story. The CVs should really work on that.

I know all stories move at a snail's pace since they try to strecth the show as long as possible but all these scenes that we get of OM and Gauri, without follow-up they just lose meaning. For instance, the CPR scene. It was beautifully enacted but there was no follow up, maybe a little insight into what Omkara thought/felt would have lent it more meaning. In the flash back they used they showed that clip where he tells Gauri that he hates her. According to my understanding it can mean two things: He either hates/dislikes her and inspite of the hate he chose to save her life, like any normal human being would in that situation. Or that he cares for her and those words were said in anger. But without OM's perspective on everything that happened and the circumstances he met and married Gauri in, we are left to our own devices and we draw our own conclusions. Obviously, RiKara are the protagonists of the show and they have to fall in love eventually and being the hopeless RiKara shippers that we are, we see love and care in everything (😆). What I am trying to get at is the importance of exploring OMs emotions and feelings. That will give more credibility to his actions.

If I were to take things at face value, I don't think OM even likes Gauri yet. He seemed to be a little concerned during Svetty's attack on Gauri and when she fainted but it was just a natural concern/guilt nothing more than that. I doubt he even likes Gauri ATM. All family members should stop forcing Gauri down his throat. That's so infuriating. Let him make his own decisions. No wonder he takes it all out on Gauri.

Shivaay's situation was different, all the gayaans Om gave him were needed because Shivaay was attracted to Annika but his NKK/Ego would not let him act on it. OM does not have any such ego issues. His situation does not warrant the same treatment.

What would have been better instead of the unsolicited advice he's being given is that Shivaay should have asked him why and how he married Gauri. For all they know, she really is a gold-digger waisay bhee, Oberios have shit loads of enemies, what if she is one of them? Shivaay could have put Khanna on her case and in the process some of OM's MU could have been removed (since the major MU doesn't go that soon). This way, they could have also kept the real essence of the O'Bros intact instead of the over-emphasis on Pinky and NT drama we got in the name of MS.

Anyway, I hope they they have something good in store for us. I want to see Omkara's love-hate relationship, conflicting emotions, and then finally see him falling for Gauri-the O'Bros way of falling in love-like Annika said, lol. Don't want them to rush the story in their attempt to sync both shows.

Your post is bang on Zee!
I agree with you entirely that we get only half the story because we never get hear Omkara's perspective of things.

In IB, they used to favor Shivaay's POV but now there is a pretty significant balance between the perspectives of Shivaay and Anika...

But in DBO, while we get to understand each and every thought flitting through Gauri's mind, we almost never get a peek into the workings of Omkara's heart/mind. We never get to experience this the way he is seeing all the events that have taken place.

All we have to go on are Kunal's expressions, voice modulations and his body language to figure out what Omkara is thinking or feeling. And while KJ is amazing, even micro-analyzing his acting isn't gonna give us most of what we need to know about Omkara's emotional journey through the series.

Even a heart to heart with his brothers could reveal the emotional processes behind the scenes causing his unceasing hatred and anger at Gauri... maybe then things might (stress on might) start making some sense.

ZAA...Lovely post, yes yes!!! I want introspection...please someone leave Omie darling alone with himself for a few moments to just reflect on what is going on around him and within him...and SHOW US!!

About his feelings for Gauri, I think he found her beautiful and someone who had immense self respect, after their first meeting. despite the fact that he outwardly demeaned her...he was surprised and angry to see her with KALI T...

I believe he definitely had feelings for Chulbul (yes I drew my own conclusions )...not just friendship...but not romantic love either...it was somewhere in between...and thats where his confusion is stemming from...he loved Chulbul, who did everything in his power to protect Om, to care for Om and Guided him...that shared trust and care changed him...gave him some respite from all the confusion and hurt surrounding him all these days...and than, love and care turned out to be from Gauri...his most hated person...he purely wants to hate her...but he cannot deny the fact that she willing got stabbed by him...and saved him and his family countless times...plus he found something in Chulbul that he adored...some truth or earnestness, or something else...that comes through in Gauri too...it twists the knife of betrayal in his heart...and yet that same heart is yearning towards Gauri...Like almost hug after saving her...or seeking her out to torment her...

I dont even know if I am making sense...lol

ZAA, I think all of Gul's heroes seem somewhat bipolar - it's that tug of war between nafrat and mohabbat that she loves so much. It's pretty easy to show us exactly what Gauri is feeling - her story and characterization have been straightforward but with Om they've done a 180 and reset his basic character sketch so it's lot more complicated to justify and they've chosen to leave it to the viewers to reconcile. Here's my version below -
Per the basic Gul template Om feels a visceral attraction for Gauri but his conscious mind is hung up on an archetype of her as a gold digger and home wrecker. When she was stuck in the freezer and fighting for her life, his conscious mind turned off and his emotional side took over as fought to save her. He was tender in his ministration and grateful when she recovered but she snapped his conscious mind back into place when she noticed the police. After that he's wanted her gone - they each did the other a good turn and now it's time for her crawl back under the rock she came from. Unfortunately, his family has conspired to keep her by his side and each time his frustration at being thwarted has been rising. Perhaps it's felt like groundhog day to him too, not just to us the viewers! 😃 . When she (mock)fainted, again his emotions came to the fore and his priority was to make sure that she hadn't done anything to hurt herself as he had so callously suggested. Part of it may have been guilt but it seemed like more than that. He even acknowledges it to her when she says she did her part but he didn't help his cause. His response is that in making sure she was okay he shot himself in the foot.

To me it seems like when his conscious mind is shut off usually when she's in any danger his instinctive reaction is to protect her but otherwise he is growing increasingly desperate to get rid of her and in the process his prejudice against her is hardening. I'm not sure if this account makes any difference to the confusion around Om's actions/thoughts but I'm willing to fill in a few blanks on my own and it helps to see the character more clearly. 😊

@bold : Are we taking it to mean he scuppered himself by being worried about her when she fainted? Is this meant to denote how he himself had to write her name in the kulpatri?

I took it in the broader sense and thought he meant he'd spoiled his own life when he tried to protect her in Bareilly and ended up marrying her for appearances sake... and he was now stuck with her n he hated it

Yes, I did think he meant specifically that his good deed in making sure she was okay post her faint boomeranged on him and by his own hand he was forced to include her name in the family book. I suppose it could seem to him in his frustrated state that it is one more instance of his good deed getting punished starting all the way back from Bareilly. The story of his life (of the new and retrograde DBO Omkara 😉) since he met the scheming and cunning Gauri Kumari Sharma and collectively it's added to his revulsion for her.
