Actually Mahira Gul didn't told the truth to you. Oberoi Mansion is already divided. Dadaji made it like this. Big Mansion is divided in 2 small mansions which has moving wall(wall which can be made to increase or decrease the space) and 2 gates in opposite direction. In IB the wall was not needed so it was in side but in DBO they opened it so they are now using separate entrance So one side is for Shivaye family and other for Omkara family. As during Svet-Om shaadi he came from front door of house and Dadi even didn't get to know about Gauri or Om shaadi. She didn't came in normal clothes but full decked in bridal clothes still Dadi didn't see that means they don't stay in same side but in opposite side.
