Good writing let down by average acting

This post is going to make me the most hated person on this forum!
So let me start by explaining the sequence of events. I first read the live update and was super excited. If Shaurya got to know right before the wedding what he was responsible for, there were 3 ways to respond: a) go on with the wedding, b) run away again no matter what it did to her, figuring that it was better than making her marry the person who killed her parents or c) talk to her. Now I do know that the last one is never, ever an option for Hindi shows 😆, so it would be a or b.

I also liked how they built up to it - the near explosion, a totally petrified Mehak who then decides to go ahead with the wedding and then the reminder of the first time when he disappeared - they really built it to a point where you would feel that he could neither leave her nor go back. I finally saw the point of the chunari bomb too - it was to raise the stakes for everything else that was happening.

I have to add one more thing here. I was happy for a totally different reason as well. Tempted by videos of their wedding, I'd finally checked out the instagram page for ZKM, and was shocked by a lot of the nasty comments. Do people really have no life or intelligence or anything? How can they jump from "he looks disinterested in the pheras" to "he is unprofessional". The sheer blind hatred of it was disturbing, and I was so glad that he had full reason to be, not just disinterested, but shell shocked during the wedding.

So I went to watch the episode with a lot of happiness, sure that today I'd be back to the show. And I was really disappointed with the acting. Everyone's acting. Karuna and Munjaal were hamming like there was no tomorrow. And Karan fell short too, both in the scene with Munjaal and in the last scene.

This is the second time I've been disappointed with Karan's acting. I was similarly not impressed in the Gurudwara scene when Shaurya finally accepts to himself that he loves Mehak. I think he does the small things well - yesterday for example when he told Mehak, "this is about the tenth time that you're falling and I'm saving you". Anything that requires him to be charming, he can do. But when he has to show the life-changing moment, there is a depth which is missing.

Some caveats here: I understand that acting is subjective and contextual, and also that these people work long hours and have pressures and stresses that I don't know about. Also, the only reason I am writing this post is to offer some constructive criticism. If there is a scene that will change the very direction of Shaurya's life and character, perhaps he needs to introspect a bit more, think about it from different perspective, perhaps dig into his own best or worst life experiences in order to find that deeper level of performance.

@ bold, after the response to the last couple of chapters my ff has garnered, I thought that honour mine, but I gladly relinquish the title to you Vedika 🤣

You must have been typing this as I was just finishing watching the episode: the first, despite the definite OTT acting of all paries you mentioned, I've actually enjoyed in I cannot say how long.

Of course the fact that they were finally getting married was a plus, and I admit being a wee bit emotional in for the first portion of the episode.

As an aside, I really need an explanation soon why Shruiti is absent before giving my full blessing to Nehal and Vicky, but they were just as cute as Shamz had described😳.

The Inspector was good I thought, in his inebriated state initially, but soon I was talking to the actor asking him to bring it down a notch already😆.

Still I think I am more forgiving of the episode, as I actually prefer how they handled the revelation as opposed to Nani holding all of the cards.

Just my opinion...now back to this update of mine😉

Yes you're right about the handling of the revelation.

But that's exactly my point. The writing was quite good in the masala soap way. In fact, I was quite excited by it. And usually we appreciate the actors but give the makers and the writers grief, but today I felt that was reversed. And I wanted to acknowledge that.

Of course, the writers are still not sure if the accident happened 10, 15 or 12 years ago 😆

Ha ha Vedika... Not to worry girl, we all like the forum coz we can be honest abt our opinions . 😊

I surprisingly had a complete reverse take of the show. After a very long time, the show had me in grips. I enjoyed the conversation, the flashbacks of the prev wedding, the silent presence of it throughout, acting too especially of Karuna and Manjal. They kept the intensity up. This is all up until I saw the preview. That left me baffled. Like I said in another post, the show actually pulled me back in yesterday. I have my reservations going forward, but I couldn't fault yesterday's.

I will tell you what works for me though, not reading the live update, not reading any posts that is likely to give away what transpired in the episode. I stay clear of all that till I watch. I have had this very same thing happen to me multiple times in the past. I go with a certain expectation after I read and it doesn't match up. 😊 The recent hot kitchen romance was that way for me, so was the gurudwara and a few more. But on the other hand I have enjoyed some episodes that has been thrashed heavily here... 😊, like the proposal, him being beaten up by KC's goons. The mindset you are in plays the tricks... Watch out for that... 😊

I'm glad you enjoyed it. 😊

And I'll give it a try the way you suggest it - watching it before reading what happens etc. I do understand that my expectations also have a lot to do with it. But I saw it again before writing this post just to be fair, and it still felt underwhelming to me.

Which proposal did you think was better than the response on the forum? The metro one or the Taj one?!

First of all, there is no reason to hate u coz u gave ur honest opinion. N everyone needs to respect each other's opinions out here.
Secondly, coming to ur post I kinda liked the episode but I won't deny tht I was expecting a little more from KV. The fact is tht we all have been spoilt by Kv's flawless acting so much tht we always expect the best from him. Like his confrontation scene with Munjal, I wanted a bit more intensity from his side.. He wasn't bad he could have been a little better. When Munjal said tu kya yahan khalifa hai ya Don hai, I wanted him to shout at him saying yes I m the Don. Thts the Shaurya Khanna we all know.

Also, a valid point u mentioned tht alot of ppl complained on insta tht KV wasn't interested while giving the interview or looked lost during the pheras. I have been saying this time n again tht haters ll always see WHT they wish to see n ll convince others too to think so.
These actors give their 100% to their characters n still some think tht they aren't doing justice to it.
Lastly, only one piece of advice to these ppl - don't jump to conclusions. Give the opposite person a chance to defend him or herself!!!
Enough of my bak bak!!!

Thank you for bold 😊

Shristi, I too felt that the intensity was missing in the confrontation scene with Munjaal. Though I think most of the people on the forum have liked the episode and the acting.

As for the people commenting on Instagram, they are all mad! I don't follow actors on Instagram and so wasn't really aware of such levels of spite and nonsense. Its not like they are going to listen to reason. The only thing one can do is to ignore them.

I fell into the buildup and hype trap with the metro proposal and also the movie theater confession. The Taj proposal and the running around the aisles of the gift shop, as corny as it was, I did enjoy... 😊. I get that the proposal lacked ingenuity, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it. I think the only reason is that I didn't expect it at all of that episode and was pleasantly surprised with the turn it took...

So true Vedika... Ignoring these fools is the best way to deal with them.
I kinda think tht the show has come back on track... Looking forward to some angst filled episodes. Would love to see one episode dedicated to Shaurya's turmoil... Fighting with himself to keep himself away from the love of his life... The same intensity he had shown right after the slap tht Mehak had given him during ISC... His convo with mom was the best scene where he showed his caliber as a fine actor.

For me the phuski bomb scene was 🤢 what was the need for that brilliant act ? 🤢

I had said I would pay to see a faceoff btw Munjal & Shaurya 😆

Well ! I lost my bet 🤢 for once hoped Shaurya would show his wild side but but

Munjal swallowed him whole in that act
😕

Shaurya was looking defeated in that scene was hoping to see the ISC days ka Shaurya 😕

I personally felt today's episode was a good one after a long long time 😆

Btw Maang Bharega ki nahi is the next debate
😆
