It's getting to the truth. That which corresponds with fact or reality. Distinguishing what is the truth may be complicated. Often It may be glaring to the eye in the form of reality as seen. Yet at other times it may lie concealed in need of an intuitive eye to recognise it. Taking the current scenario betwixt Uma , Kanak and Palomi the aim is to get to the naked truth! Plain, without concealment or embellishment. There is a reason to my title selection , to this episode. The term goes back to a fable, whereby the truth and falsehood went bathing together. It so happened that falsehood then dressed itself in truth's apparel. But truth rejected another's clothes and thus goes away naked! Unconcealed and unvarnished! The nature of truth in the present episode however is subject to some debate, regards its authenticity as to which of the two Kanak or Palomi actually speak the truth regards the phone call Kanak makes to Arvind?
There comes times in life where the truth may be bent, tailored or amended, to suit one's needs. To walk the shore lined with vicious crabs into the sea, is all to show that Kanak takes up the challenge, to prove her truth. An act cringe worthy for her, but for Uma a further meltdown of his heart. Impulse pushes forth his broad palm, in which lands Kanak's foot! Unconventional! A husband touches wife's foot!!. How much truth there is to the imbalance both suffer is worth a watch as imbalance causes a further tumble and immersion of both in the ocean. His arms grab her protectively, as the playful yet slightly wild waves, strum as Uma and Kanak's bodies are bopped by the buoyancy of the crashing waves. Then the waves release them from their ebb and flow. In control Uma carries his wife in his arms, leaves behind the calm waves. With the sun behind them they appear as two majestic deities rising from the mighty sea.
This is the naked truth Palomi's solitary figure watches from the seashore. Yet Palomi is sore and decides to stretch the truth inist's she spoke the truth. Uma needs to tell Palomi a few home truths! He needs to correct whatever is going through Palomi's mind! As far as he can discern Kanak has proved her truth.But this too seems the truth that Uma is oblivious of whatever the poor ardent Palomi feels about him. Yes he is sharp and abrasive and this turn of his lands Kanak in an uneasy position. The last thing she wants is dissension between Palomi and Uma. It's interesting how he retrieves Kanak from the waves and plonks her before Palomi. It's almost as if he wants to show Palomi she falsely accused his wife. Palomi stupidly puts herself in this dare devil feat! she can do it too! to prove she lies not! It's more about proving the truth that Kanak lies and she speaks the truth. A dramatic irony, that really Palomi's word is the truth. Only Uma gets hold of the wrong end of the stick! He rumbles, he had informed all! he wanted time out with his wife!! So why is his privacy being encroached??But Palomi sees Uma's gullibility. Uma the besotted husband speaks loyally, in no uncertain words, yes he respected her , trusted her..once. But now! visually he puts his arm around Kanak's shoulder , pulls her into his armpit.. he trusts his wife! Well! it's being cruel to be kind? But how else can he speak the truth and show it as well! However , Kanak as a woman feels for Palomi, she never doubted Palomi's devotion toward's Uma, or is threatened by their interaction..it's regretful this is happening.. it's only to retrieve Bhabo's shop. From Kanak's part there is no deliberation to hurt Palomi..
Unvarnished truth Palomi faces, a lone figure on the sea shore . Palomi sees the plain facts without embellishment. The naked truth, Uma all for Kanak. As for her what can she do except show resignation in this situation? as Uma takes away his wife. Such dramatic irony , for Palomi spoke the truth.. and Kanak too is aware of this.. the only one who is unaware of what the truth is ?happens to be Uma Shankar .He is so busy assuring and lauding Kanak that she stood for the truth, which the gods too stand for, so she was bound to prove her innocence. Despite all his knowledge, his inability to differentiate between reality and appearance is shaping up as a flaw in his character. He assumes loyalty and sincerity from family.. as he can never imagine insiders can become a cause of betrayal. Perhaps because he too like most ,trusts his close ones blindly. Uma seems to enjoy a foreign sentiment of being attracted to a beautiful woman, whom he felt ,sensed, and now sees as his for keeps! A priceless keepsake!! Mind you the man challenges Kanak's preconception about him too.. that he is a boring old fogey!! Well Uma must be praised he is meeting her half way! City style! Taking her out for a dinner date!! Wicked! But eating out meant eating out of the room! At the dining table with the family! Well have to give him A+ for deflating Kanak!! does he like to play around with giving impressions?? As in false hope??
Ahhh ..the flirtations yet again..the sea salt, spices up things between this unlikely couple, from the wife's point of view, but ordained by the gods ,is Uma's stance! Kanak sides with the truth of feminine preening her hair is still wet! Uma daringly will leave no stone unturned in wooing her! being a man he'll assist her!! impress her with use of nature's own bounty. As his lady waits for her stylist Uma .he return's with a pot of steaming hot burning coal. fumes! Softly he gathers the strands of her wet hair, in his palms, parts them at the back with much care, and gives it the gradual heat treatment.. offer oils as conditioner for her raven black silky long tresses. His truth is that love for her, smoothly, tenderly expresses itself in sentiments of care, pampering and devotion towards her. How Uma watches her in utter complacency . The honest to goodness truth lies in the fact that even here, Uma instructs her every move, till the point when her hair nearly dries. Uma's gentle guidance continues, under his watchful eyes, slowly slides through her hair like a fine tooth comb.. that's the sort of precision with which Uma Shankar runs his life. Here he shares his precision with his wife.. some more of his wants and needs. All truth about him baffles her. Once he refused to treat her because she was a woman.. today he dries her hair for her! what Kanak is unaware of perhaps, is that Uma is still , as he was astute in his mind set, but today the woman he handles is his wife! He watches her as if she is an outcome of his handiwork, gives her his final seal of approval!! But himself leads her for family dinner..
A home truth, telling someone something unpleasant about themselves! Dinner time, a coming together of family time. Palomi down inthe dumps. Natural sentiments of rejection, courtesy of the harsh words of the man she reveres. She needs to accept the changes in circumstances. Suman as usual looks out for her moroseness. Thus like the domino effect, comes out Maasi's stark ugly truth! The woman studies faces! loves reading faces! It keeps the dull and boring element out of her life. Uma and Kanak to eat from same platter to , promote love. The beginning of the meal too , begins with purifying the food ritual. Massi watches Kanak's every move! Affectionately ,mocks her name calling her lizard! A cold blooded reptile! Corrects, checks ! puts Kanak down eat with hand! right hand its all to do with having Kanak conform. Maasi puts her down ,makes her feel unwanted.. but Kanak is like the crab with the hard shell, has scales like the lizard and Maasi's comments she thinks are bricks and stones might hurt her but Maasi's words hurt her not! Bhabo's paper act as the preventative measure to manage this calamity control ! called Maasi ..
The naked truth.. behind Kanak's back Meenakshi shows Golu's FIL, Bhabo's shop.. possible deal in the pipeline..Vansh to deal as the middle man. Awaits confirmation of Golu's proposal .
Home truths at the family supper. Maasi's caustic comments continue. She even indulges in double meaning teases with Uma. Refers to overuse of salt as in courtship and wooing Kanak! leading up to the nuptial night! She compliments Kanak,as being the right match for Uma.. but the truth is she jeers at Kanak! that she is beautiful ,with a sharp mind and an equally sharp tongue. It is noticeable that Uma allows his wife to be put down by Maasi .. and does not dispute his mother.
Face the gospel truth! Maasi nearly warns pathetic Palomi, Uma is a stranger for her now.. there is not even a single grain of truth, in the fact , that Uma will rely on Palomi anymore. Both women hug and cry.. is there some hidden truth linked with Maasi?
But to Kanak its the sugar coated treatment that Maasi gives Kanak.. with the veiled caution. Tomorrow is the last ritual of purification after which she would rightfully belong to their family! There is no bending or omitting this truth..Maasi blesses Kanak ,but cannot promise that she will not keep a keen eye on her! and this is the truth!
Kanak's real test begins when she returns to her home and realizes.. she will have to spend the night with Ravan in his room. If only she could tailor the truth.. precap.. Uma and Kanak can be seen sleeping in the same bed! Hamlet5317.5.17
