Part 13
"One Lie is enough to question all truths"
Geet was shocked with the revelation, she did not know what to think of all of this. The world which she thought was beautiful turned again into a dark place where she found herself alone again.
"If that is the truth then what am I doing living here with an unknown man. Shouldn't I be running...no ...no hes not like him hes not he won't harm me right", She was lonely and bad thoughts clouded her rationality making her think the worst possible scenarios. Her abusive past started to mix up with her present, her chain of thoughts broke when she heard Maan's voice, "Hey Geet...guess what I got to come back early today ..from tomorrow...I...bought you your favorite food ...le...".
She heard his footsteps and she started backing off, she looked out of the window finding Dev there, "Dev...", She called. He looked to the window and what she did next was unbelievable for him she jumped out. "Geet...where are you going...hey you two what are you", Maan yelled behind them but the two of them left. "Geet...", He said looking at her retreating figure. He tried calling Dev but heard the ring coming from the living room where he left his phone. "What has gotten into the two of them", He said irritated.
After coming a considerable distance, Dev and Geet stopped. She hugged him letting her tears out. He understood her dilemma so he asked, "Where do you want to go, Geet. Maan bhai is worried". He tried to reason with her, he knew Maan is not a bad person if he hid the truth there must be a valid reason to all this. "Please, I don't want to go back to Maan", She sobbed. Dev sighed, he knew she is scared so he took her to the next possible option his home. Geet entered his home and felt the warmth of a family there. His parents were out for a relative's wedding, so they just settled in the living room. "Do you want to eat something, I have instant noodles", Dev said. "You can't cook too", She said looking up to him. "No, I don't," He smiled nervously. She laughed seeing his expressions, and offered to help. "Who taught you to cook", Dev asked. "Maan did", She smiled sadly. Dev could judge from her expressions that she was sad. He decided to zip his mouth until she is in a mood to talk. They had their diner watching some tv shows. After a while when he felt shes fine he asked her to rest. Tired by the day's events she conceded. Dec was worried looking at her so he stayed by her side. The morning came and Dev decided to talk to her regarding the issue. Geet was now calm. "Geet, I think we should get you back. Maan bhai must be worried. Geet, I know you are shocked by the revelation and your past makes it hard for you to trust men, but has Maan bhai ever misbehaved with you", Dev said looking at her. "No", She said meekly. "Geet no matter what others say, remember he was the one who took you out from that darkness, so I feel you should give him another chance, may be he too is unaware of it fully or if he does there must be a reason so please let us go back", He reasoned and Geet nodded.
Both of them entered the house to find the door unlocked and Maan sitting by the doorstep still in his office attire. As soon as he heard the noise, he got up looking furiously at them.
He grabbed Dev and cornered him, "What was that stupid stunt you both pulled last night. You think that is funny". "Maan stop it, we did not do anything wrong", She said separating them. Maan was furious and for the first time he slapped her, "Making your family worried to death is not wrong for you". Tears flowed out of his eyes, "You have any idea, how worried I was for you, what kind of thoughts clouded my mind for both of your safety, but no, you both like irresponsible fools just walked out.I'm cutting down the cable connection and you are not using my laptop either, don't know what kind of stupid things you watch to pull of such stunts dare you do that again, or the next time you will find me dead. I don't care whom you are with but always remember to come back home because I will be waiting for you here always, do you understand". Geet cried hearing him and reprimanding herself for doubting his intentions, "He cares for her , hes her only family, no matter what the truth is". "Why are you crying now, Dev please can you pass us the tissues", He said. He wiped her tears and his own from the tissues and taking care of her like a child. Geet hugged him crying her eyes out, "I'm sorry".
Dev was happy seeing them . "It is okay now go to your room and get fresh, I'm preparing you favorite Pizza and Dev you have that too", He said putting on an apron. They had the Pizza but their happiness was short lived when they heard the shrill voice of Sameera.
"Hello Maan", She grinned. "What are you doing here", He said. "I'm here to live with you all as it is you will be busy with your latest project so I'm going to accompany Geet here", She said. Maan looked at Geet and then back at her, "I don't need your assistance so kindly leave", He said again but was interrupted this time by Geet, "Its okay Maan, shes right, if you leave for this project like you told me just now then its okay to let her stay". Maan and Dev looked at her shocked while Sameera grinned, "Thank you Geet". Geet smiled weakly at her. "Are you sure about this", Maan asked. "Yes..", She said. Sameera moved in with her stuff with Yash joining them shortly, their quiet little home looked crowded now. "A really short sibling life we had, I guess", Maan said after a while. She nodded, "It was indeed short".

Note - FOR THOSE WHO STILL DID NOT GET THE LAST PART ....MAANEET ARE NOT SIBLINGS....THAT IS WHY I SAID TO READ THE CS CAREFULLY IT SAYS YASH SINGH KHURANA AS FATHER OF MAAN ...MADHU HANDA FOR THE MOTHER OF GEET...IF THEY WERE RELATED THEN WHY WOULD I WRITE FATHER OF MAAN AND MOTHER OF GEET SEPARATELY AS ITS OBVIOUS SIBLINGS SHARE THE SAME PARENTS ...FEW OF YOU GOT THAT AT THE START AND WERE NOT WORRIED LOL BUT THE MAJORITY WERE CONFUSED ...SO HOPE I'M CLEAR HERE THEY ARE NOT SIBLINGS LOL ...WHY MAAN LIED TO HER IT WILL BE REVEALED EVENTUALLY 😆
