Top Hindi Nett Grossers - Bahubali 2 Already Sixth

Great news. Next stop is 400 crores (Hindi version).

Lakhan, I don't think it's fair to compare Khans' Bollywood record to other South films. Bahubali 1 and 2 are both the highest grossing movies in India - above Dangal, PK, and Bajrangi. In fact, Robot's India business was the first to move past 3I's record.

If anything, Bahubali's success has exposed the market capacity of India. If India can make movies in the scale of Bahubali, 2000 crore Worldwide Gross isn't far away. Think about it. If some filmmaker can make Mahabharata or Ramayana, the movie is going to do double of Bahubali's business.

As I said in another thread, Bahubali 2 isn't a normal ATBB. It's on the same ilk as Kismet, Rattan, Mother India, MEA, Sholay, HAHK, and Gadar. BOI has already indicated that it may surpass Gadar as the biggest Blockbuster of the century. These are seven of the biggest Blockbusters Indian film industry has ever seen, North, West, East, South.

It's an incredible accomplishment. The starpower of Khans may contribute in delivering Blockbusters like Dangal or Bajrangi, but it's impossible to deliver such large-scale ATBBs on starpower alone. The movie has to be special - like MEA, Kismet, Sholay, or HAHK.

Bahubali is that special movie. It won't be repeated again for a long time unless India recognizes that mythologies and fantasies are the audience want. It's high time they did.

Look at Hollywood. The highest grossing movies are SciFi-Fantasies like Avatar, Star Wars, or Jurassic World, superhero flicks like Dark Knight or Avengers, franchises like Furious 7 or James Bond series; fantasy series like LoTR or HP, or finally, live-action/animations such as BATB, Finding Dory, or Frozen. Only Titanic is the "normal drama" in the list--and it is a histofic-epic.

If Sholay is Bollywood's equivalent of Gone with the Wind, then HAHK is Bollywood's equal to Titanic. Nonetheless, Bollywood has to become more innovative now. Stardom alone won't challenge movies like Bahubali. They can complement it.

I hope Indian film industry all over collaborate and work together in bringing Ramayana and Mahbharata to the big screen. If they can do it, any figure is possible.
