The General asked the attendant about the Princess who told her that she is practicing archery. The General entered and this made the Princess miss the target. "You should not waver from the target Princess", He commented. "I never miss my targets General, want to have a competition", She asked. "As you wish Princess", The General smiled. The Princess ordered her attendants to get another bow for the General. "Let us make this more interesting, if you can see, you can hit easily, that is why I want to see how much sharp your ears are. So we will be blindfolded and then shoot the target . Three hits and the judgment would be made", The Princess said. "Alright , Princess", The General agreed. Now they were blindfolded and began the competition. The Princess was trained in different arts, as her father always wanted his daughter to be capable to protect the Kingdom as a fine ruler. The competition ended and both were surprised that it was a tie. "You have been trained well, Princess", He applauded. "Thank you General. So what brings you here", She asked. "I have been appointed for your security Princess, so I just came to see if you required anything", He said.
Now they were in the boulevard of the Palace. "A Princess does not need anything but a friend wants some answers", She said once they were at a considerable distance from the attendants. "You are at it again", He sighed. "You promised to stay by my side", She said now facing him. "That I am", He said. "Did you forget everything, Maan. Did you forget all our childhood days, is this duty more important to you than our friendship and love", She said. "I have some promises to the King, this country and my father, and I won't betray them", He said. The Princess sighed, "Just a moment". She went to her garden and touched some flower buds making them bloom. "You shouldn't be openly displaying your powers, Princess, when there are people after these very powers of yours", The General warned. "This is only a fraction of my powers, you should know better General and these are just for my friend who has forgotten his birthday", She smiled giving it to him. The General was surprised to know she remembered, "I can't ..."."Well before you think of refusing, its an order", She said authoritatively making him smile after years. "Very good," She smiled.
"So where have you been all these years", She asked. "Training", He replied. "Did you forget our childhood promise", She asked. "No, that is why I'm here", He confessed at last. "So why won't you call my name without titles", She prodded. "Because, you are the future ruler of this country", He said. "And yes don't try to read my mind because you know, you were never successful in that since our childhood", He smiled.
"For some reason, my powers don't work against you", She pouted. "That is beneficial to me, Princess. Somethings are best be kept to one's self", He said. "How about you teach me how to use a sword ", The Princess asked diverting the topic. "If that is an order, I will", He said. "Its a request", She said. "Your wish is my command, Princess", He said. "Well then Princess, let's start today itself, I would ask the men the weapons", The General spoke. The King witnessed every moment smiling. "I'm really happy to see her smiling after long", He said looking at them.
Someone was witnessing all this through a crystal mirror, "Ah, young love, so pure yet so fragile". The person laughed devilishly, "My beautiful Princess, you should pay heed to the General's warnings."
The Professor and Geet started their journey to the ancient ruins. "It will take time before we reach our destination", The Professor informed. "So what is it that you know so far", Geet asked. "Well for starters, its strange but there is no mention of even their names in the artifacts I found", He said. "No names, but how could that be, there has to be something right", Geet asked. "No, nothing, we are still excavating to find these basic clues but nothing", Maan sighed. "Anyway, Professor here is something I bought for you", She said handing him a parcel."What is this for, you don't have to gift me anything for ...", before he could continue she smiled, "Its for a friend who forgot his birthday".
"How did you know", He smiled. "Research, you see. Actually uncle told me today before we started for our journey", She giggled. "Thank you", He said. The Professor though accepted the gift but has always been wary about his life, keeping his thoughts aside he concentrated on their journey.
Geet was lost in her own thoughts, when she heard Maan's voice, "We will be reaching our destination by night, so let's have a short break till then". He finished pointing to a roadside dhaba. "Alright, let's have a meal and we can celebrate your day too", Geet said. They got down from their mini bus and went towards the Dhaba. They settled down and Maan asked the locals what they knew about the excavation site. The Dhaba owner was an old man and he said, "Not much is known about that Sir, many people came there but found nothing". "Do you know their names, I mean, the Princess and the General's", Geet asked. "No ma'am, we know nothing about them, the only thing we know is that they just vanished", The Dhaba owner said. "It's okay, I hope we get something more", Maan said. "Sir but it is said the Princess was a very powerful magic holder. She had powers which were never fully discovered, there are many stories but none of them actually know what happened to her, some even say she is alive", Another Local commented. "Guess you're theories are right, Geet, the locals agree with you", He smiled. "It's just a theory, Maan we can't say anything in particular, think if they are alive then where are they ", She said.
"Anyway, let's forget about work, tell me about how you celebrated your birthdays earlier", Geet said diverting the topic. Maan spoke after a brief pause, not knowing what she would think of it, "Geet, actually you might find it weird but I do not remember many things regarding my life". Geet looked at him surprised, "What do you mean"."Umm, how to explain it, it is like many parts of my life seems missing", He said nervously not wanting his friend to think that he is mad. Geet smiled, "Then you are the same as me, I guess". Maan looked up shocked to hear that from her. "You mean, you too...", He said and she nodded. "Yeah, its like the missing puzzle pieces, we are strange I guess", She joked.

"You can say so", He too brushed it off. "Then the two strangest people will make the best team right", She smiled. "Ha ha , you are right about that, partner", He smiled. They again started on their journey and finally reached the destination. "I will start showing you around in the morning, the locals say it's not safe at night. Your tent is just next to mine, do tell me if you need anything", Maan said. "Thank you," She smiled. They settled down in their respective tents waiting for their adventure to start.
