Modern Era.
If you look at the 90's - most voices had the same range and texture. Especially when it came to female singers there was the standard hyper-feminine voice. The overall vocal sound was monochromatic. You had the same few people creating all the sounds.

Modern music is much more diverse in the vocal sounds. There is greater diversity in tone, range and texture. Different people create different sounds based on their talents.

PS: The TM should replace the embedded YT videos with hyperlinks. The embedding is causing high page load times. It slows down the browser significantly.

in this era their is no female singer in 90's it was alka , anuradha , sadhna sargam , kavita , hema desai etc today their is not any just kanika sang 2 item number she isnt a singer , and in male singers today every singer sing in same drunken tone arijit singh sometimes sound like atif aslam like tum hi ho or main dekhne ko zamane main jab wafa nikla kind of songs , arman malik sometime sound like arijit singh its monotonous era of one singing style that is deep drunken voices in 90's kumar sanu had his own style , udit had his own style , spb had his style , roop kumar had his own style , sonu nigam had his own style , abhijeet had his own style their were so much diversity of voices back in days . today singers sound same without seeing credits you can not even name its arijit singh singing it or arman malik because they try to sing in same drunken voice
