I remember telling my sister during one of the initial promos of the show that while the promos show Maya to be that obsessive lover, in the end it might be Arjun using her to get rich. All the discussions on this page are pointing in that direction as well

My current feeling is Arjun knows who the killer is and is trying to protect him/her be it Vandana, Saanjh,Saanjh's father or out of the blue Ayaan. To save that person he tried to implicate Jhanvi and when the Inspector was about to arrest Maya to save her he confessed to the crime.
Whoever is the murderer but this plot is turning out to be gripping and interesting after every episode
