STICHED WITH LOVE
"Zaroon!!" Her chirpy voice echoed in the house as she twirled around, blindfolded to catch him. Her gorgeous green anarkali was spreading in full length and she was one breathtaking sight.
He too ran around while escaping her. And Zaroon being himself couldn't help but tease her by tickling and then running away.
It was yet another Sunday afternoon in the blissful abode of Mr and Mrs Zaroon Junaid who had decided to spend it playing blindfold.
Her ebony curls were flowing freely and dupatta was tied in a knot near the waist.
"Zaroon? Kahan hai aap?" She again called out.
"Kya hua? Abb pakkad ke dikhao!" Zaroon challenged her laughing.
She was standing there with her hands on her waist, "Pakkad toh lungi main aapko Bachoge nahi! Aur phir aapko saza bhi milegi." She replied as she began moving forward.
Zaroon stood nearby, leaning on the wooden frame as he enjoyed watching his wife struggling to find him.
"Pakkad liya!" She exclaimed jumping cutely while catching hold of a bush. Zaroon laughed at her innocence, "Oye.. that's a plant Mrs Zaroon!"
She made a face, "Opps! Koi nahi.. Bahout maza aa raha hai abhi. Jab aapki baari aayegi tab dekhenge!"
"Tumhe pakkad na mushkil thodi hai... Tum itni aawaz karti ho bhagte hue.. Koi behra bhi pakkad le!" Zaroon told her with a chuckle.
She scratched her head cutely as her bangles jingled, "Khair chhodo, don't distract me Zaroon."
"Of course, as you say mam! Lekin tum phir bhi mujhe nahi pakkad paugi.." He smirked confidently.
A little ahead of where she was standing, there was a tiny puddle. She stepped forward and even before Zaroon could warn her, she slipped making him gasp.
"Ouchhh!" She shrieked.
"Abeer!" Zaroon immediately ran towards her and caught her before she was hurt. "Tum thik toh ho?" He asked in a worried tone.
He helped her in getting the blindfold off. She could see the worry twinkling in his chocolate eyes.
"Main thik hu Zaroon!" She assured him.
"Pakka?!" He asked unsure as he gently dusted off the dirt from her arms.
"Haan.. Zaroon! Main bilkul thik hu!" She assured him again. She could sense the panic in his voice and this almost unknowingly brought a beautiful smile on her angelic face.
"Kya thik hu? Dekho chot lagi hai." Zaroon said while showing her few scratches on her arm.
Abeer softly hit his head with her palm making him look at her cutely accusing, "Ise chot nahi kharoch kehte hai!" She replied with a chuckle.
"Whatever!" Zaroon mumbled as he gently blew air on her scratches. "Zyada dard toh nahi ho raha?" He asked concerned.
She moved her head in negative. Those weren't deep wounds, only some scratches yet her husband was so worried. Her eyes were moist seeing his love for her. How lucky she was to have him in her life? She moved her fingers through his thick black hairs as she touched her forehead with his. A teardrop or two fell down. He cupped her face and with his thumb wiped them away.
"I love you Zaroon!" She said as she hugged him tight.
Zaroon smiled and murmured "I love you too!"
He woke up with a jerk. He looked around, confused. A moment before, he was in the verandah and other, he's in his study room, on his desk with piles of files scattered around.
Ek aur khwaab!
He rubbed his eyes as he glanced the clock. It was 4:30 in the morning. He was working late night yesterday, tired from all day's work, he didn't even realized when sleep took over.
"Kabhi bhi kisi ladki ko ek workaholic se shaadi nahi karni chahiye. Sara ka sara office ghar utha laate hai aap!" He could hear her complain.
"My darrlinngg... Aapka yeh workaholic shauhar aapke liye he toh kaam karta hai. Kaam nahi karunga toh ghar kaise chalega?" He would reply. She would just smile with a nod.
He sighed as he got up from the chair and went ahead to the kitchen. He needed a strong coffee badly. He placed a pan on the stove with some milk and water as he waited for it to boil. He loved his coffee strong and less sweet, while she preferred hers with lots of cream and sugar. He remember once by mistake she took a sip from his cup and her reaction was hilarious.
"Yuck Zaroon.. Yeh coffee hai yaa karela extract? Chee! You seriously spoiled my taste. Kaise peete ho ise? Koi taste he nahi hai. Just bitter!" She had complained with cute yuck expressions.
He smiled as he visualized her expressions. Suddenly he felt something hot on his hand. He was so lost that he didn't even realize when the pan started overflowing. He immediately switched off the gas.
He closed his eyes, Aaj kyu itni yaad aa rahi ho!
He poured himself the leftover coffee and moved towards the living area. He opened the sliding door which made an annoying creaking noise. "Zaroon? Aap se kitni baar kaha hai ki darwaza aawaz kar raha hai, use thik karva do.. Lekin aapko toh sunna he nahi hai!"
He went inside, and sat down on the couch lazily. He closed his eyes and a series of events began playing before his eyes. The first time he met her, a chanced encounter in her flower shop. A smile craved on his face as he remembered their first date together. She seemed so ethereal every time that everything around her would just dissolve into oblivion and it happens even today. Crazy, that's what she used to call him.
He blushed as he remembered how it felt to hold her in his arms and watch her fall asleep. It felt surreal holding her, caressing her face, removing those tiny wisps of hair softly and kissing her forehead lightly enough not to wake her. He remember once, "Ek baat batayein mujhe? Mujhe sota hua dekhne mein aapko kya maza aata hai?" She had asked him, her hazel eyes very innocent.
"Maza nahi Abeer, sukoon milta hai. Jab tum chain se mere pehlu mein soti ho toh mujhe khushi hoti hai ki jo wada maine khud se kiya tha, tumhe khush rakhne ka use main pura kar paya hu. Tum khush ho na?" He had replied while she just kissed him lovingly in her reply.
A gentle, cool breeze broke his trance. He moved towards the open window and looked through it. The weather was pleasant with grey blanket enveloping the sky. The rose bushes were dancing to the tunes of breeze. Roses.. When she was planting them, "Roses?! Achanak!" He had asked.
"Red roses symbolize love!"
"Jo humare darmiyaan beinteha hai !" He said huskily.
"Beshak!" She replied.
He had spent months trying to imagine how it would feel and when it happened, no words in his dictionary could describe that feeling perfectly. A dream, that's what she was for him, the biggest dream and the most beautiful reality. She seemed to be the best answer to every wish of his heart.
He took a deep breathe as the sky opened up for a fulfilling shower. Saying that she loved rain was an understatement, she's crazy about rains. Once she would be out in rain, it is the most difficult task to get her back. "Zaroon aaye aap bhi !" She would insist but he is no less. "Tumhe shauk hoga apne kapde gile karne ka.. Mujhe nahi hai !" He would reply.
When she smiled, it felt as if he didn't need any more reason to live and the moment a tear would begin its journey in her eyes, his heart would break into a thousand pieces. It feels as if those hazel eyes were made only for him to get lost in. Every time he would begin sharing all this with her, she would smile and he would go mum for this was a sight for him to behold.
I really need to see her!
He sat down on the couch with a light thud, he picked up his mobile to call her. He had just begun to call, when the door bell rang. Who can come at this hour of the day?
Zaroon wondered as he balanced his mobile between his shoulder and ear and went on to open the door only to get a sweet surprise.
She was standing at the door smiling, "Happy Birthday Zaroon!" She wished him lovingly.
Without wasting even a second, Zaroon engulfed her in his arms as he picked her up and twirled around a little happily.
"Tum yahan kaise?" He asked surprised as he put her down carefully.
"Mere shauhar ka birthday ho aur main unke paas naa hoon, aisa bhala ho sakta hai?" She replied, moving her fingers through his hairs making him smile.
Zaroon hugged her again, "I missed you so much Abeer!" He confessed kissing her hair.
"I missed you too!" Abeer replied hugging him back.
"And did my princess missed her daddy?" Zaroon asked as he touched her belly softly which had started to show a little.
"Lots!" Abeer exclaimed as he bowed down to kiss their essence that was breathing inside her, the symbol of their love. Zaroon smiled looking at her before leaning in to claim her lips in a loving kiss.
