Maya is obsessed!! Maya wants to capture Arjun!! Maya is not the right person for Arjun! Maya has darkness!! Maya can never gift happiness! Maya brings only sorrow!! Maya is unlucky! Maya is cursed! - This has been the refrain of everyone except Arjun. everybody are so focused on what Maya brings into their life, none are bothered with what they are giving to Maya!
Here is a bride, not a day old who has come to her husband's house, filled with fear, hope and resolve. She intends to blend into the family, make HIS family as her own, Make HIS friends as her own but what does she get? contempt, venomous words, disdain, hatred. The colorful flowers symbolic of her smooth life has a shrapnel of glass within, the sweet that ought to dissolve and dissipate the corroding bitterness in her soul is withheld from her. The welcome she has to receive as her right is not given Yet Maya does not crumble, does not throw away her arms up in defeat. She decides to win Ma and she humbles herself to ask the help of Sanjh in winning Ma's heart. Of all the people, she asks Sanjh, the girl who is battered, bruised and not yet healed - How will this association fare?
Vandana is like a blinkered horse who will see what the manipulator wants her to see and she is seeing a girl whose entry bodes of ill omen. Vandana forgets that in each and every action, it is Maya who has had to bear the brunt of the ill omen while other's escaped scot free (almost). The manipulator is succeeding, Vandana's uncommon hatred, fear is skyrocketing and like the inspector said, the fire is going to engulf the forest; have to see who gets trapped and who escapes!! ------->>> Going completely off tangent and whimsical now.
Oddly enough, Inspector's comment reminded me of Khandava forest fire from Mahabharat. Two illustrious warriors Arjun and Krishna. Both were enticed by Lord Agni to burn down the forest and not let ANY animals escape! Ofc, in the melee, few animal's did escape who later regrouped under the banner of Kauravas and fought against Pandavas. But the importance of Khandava fire was not in the burning but in what Krishna and Arjun got as token of appreciation for their service. Arjun gets Ghandiva - a powerful bow/arrow whose owner will never be defeated in any war. Krishna gets Sudharshana chakra - the destroyer of evil.
SO HERE COMES THE WHIMSY PART -
The Arjun of Mahabharat can easily be considered as Arjun Sharma but where does Maya fit in? We switch to Brahma Samhita, where Krishna's illusory energy manifests itself as Maya- Maya is illusion nevertheless, it is part of Krishna! Stretching it a bit and considering that Yog Maya is also Durga and is also a part ofKrishna, can we assume that we are seeing the conjoining of two warriors. Now in the Kurukshetra war, Krishna does not lift a hand while Arjun it is who does the hard physical work, Krishna is the strategist who guides the course of the war ensuring that nothing harms Arjun, towards this end, he even sacrifices the sons of Pandavas.
APPLYING IT HERE
Quite obviously, Arjun is the impulsive reactor here, he needs a restraining hand, a counselor whom he respects. Sanjh's words he just shakes it off, Ma's words are not taken seriously but when Maya just lays her hand on his arm and signs to him (when Vandana goes all witchy during ghrihapravesh) Arjun subsides! Maya's brains will be needed to fight the approaching menace, Arjun cannot fight single-handed nor is Sanjh the able lieutenant, what is needed is a cool brain, a brain that is ruthless, purposeful, focused and cold-blooded in short, what is needed is Maya.
Since I am in a mytho mood..Let me also add in Hinduism, Maya is the name given to a manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi. Goddess Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, prosperity and love..
