So Ashwin has "Died" or has he?
Long time ago, I had read a motivational piece about a black dot on a pice of clear white paper- the assumption goes that, to the people's eye the black dot would be the first thing that attracted the eye, the big, empty, crystal white paper would be ignored while the tiny blck dot, marring the plain white surface would capture your sole attention! Such is the case with Maya,her past is the blot that mars the surface that is clear so far.
Maya intends to wipe the slate clean & start afresh, her intentions are good, noble and pure but the road to purgatory is paved with good intentions and noble thoughts. Maya's past will not release her so easily or so cleanly. Maya's road to purgatory is not going to be easy, she will feel the fear, insecurity, rage. She will have to bear the stigma but through it all she has to FIGHT back - can she? NO !!! She cannot!! At the first hurdle, she takes flight, she instantly withdraws into her shell, her sanctuary where she waits in dread for the sword to fall, well that was what was happening prior to her marriage. One whisper of Ashwin, run she would to her room, rocking to herself, a whisper of his voice, run to mommy, Angry words - hide, rock, rock, rock... This is her MO when she gets vulnerable.
Well, this WAS her MO until the night at the police station when hurt by the taunt, Maya decisively took the step to flee, she was held back, Nay, she was voluntarily brought back by Arjun who allowed her to go but stopped her by baring his emotions!! YES!!! Maya, the champion runner, Maya the emotional coward, Maya the hider yesterday took her first step towards freedom, towards the light when she made her way towards her manzil!! Arjun, the man who has managed Monster Boss Maya, successfully managed Maya, the wife, Maya the woman cuz for him she has always been a woman hiding an ocean full of love deep within her heart, a loyal one who fights for her beloved albeit one who loses her head when her loved one's are threatened.
So the arc of Arjun saying " Maya ko main handle karunga, kal bhi kartata, aage bhi karunga" is running.
Maya the ice maiden has embraced life, Her loneliness has diminished slightly, her fears have reduced but are not gone. She looks toward and forward to a blissful future with Arjun.
That was the end of First Act!
The second act rightfully commences with the ivory tower princess entering the humble man's cottage. Maya's first entry was not auspicious earlier, neither is her first entry as a bona fide bahu auspicious - with her she has brought the shadow! As warned by the priest, the shadow is going to consume her and Arjun,, unless she fights back!! will she??
Before we start wondering whether Maya will fight back or not, let's rake up another arc. Fresh from landing in Mumbai, Arjun takes Maya to his home, fresh from one mother to another, before entering his house, Arjun asks Maya to call his mother as Mom & not aunty, Maya smilingly agrees. Vandana who is building her own set palaces,castles, and forts in the air exclaims that she will not let go of whoever brought happiness to this house *Doorbell rings* Vandana opens jubilantly & there smiling is Maya, someone whom she was least expecting but someone who she is bound to accept and welcome wholeheartedly since she brought happiness. For this phase to happen, Vandana has to spew venom, mistrust Maya, blame Maya even if Padosi ki chahcaji ki bhatiji ki beta sneezes, her uncommon hatred will overturn only when Maya saves Arjun and for that Maya HAS TO FIGHT BACK !! She WILL!!
There are few more arcs that have opened and are progressing but I guess, this is rather a long post so ending it here before I send u guys to the kingdom of Boredom but not before adding, Maya's road to happiness is not easy, she has to go through the purgatory, her darkness has to be fought, it will not be an easy fight, she will lose some, she will win some, she will suffer, she will be wounded, she will make other's suffer and wound other's in turn but only when she manages to traverse the purgatory will she find her happiness waiting for her!!
