Mixed emotions..

Amidst the excitement about one of Gul's well written characters of all times finally on the verge of getting his due, and yet another tug-of-war romance rolling out of her kitty, I kinda underestimated or rather, ended up expecting something refreshing from Gul and Co.

I know comparisons aren't allowed on IF, but what does one do when the makers of the show are hell bent on offering glimpses of their previous shows and characters in every single shot..

6 years have passed since we first witnessed a ruthless business tycoon softening up once the overtly loud and chirpy FL gatecrashed into his life.. Gul did repeat it twice again with QH and Humsafars and recently IB.. And voila.. Here we go again..

Okay, before you guys get onto the wagon, it's important that you know that I'm not here to bash the actor or the character.. Neither am I a fangirl of the other IB couple..

On the contrary, I've been a Gul and Co. loyalist to say the least. So yeah, despite being hugely disappointed with the fact that Gul has thrown away her trump card so unwisely, I will be watching DBO.

Coz despite their ruminated plots, repeated character sketches and almost predictable tracks, one cannot deny the fact that these guys are pros at creating crackling chemistries.. Be it the typical meet at first sight fight or the ML ruthlessly attacking the FL's beliefs and in turn losing his heart to her or the famous dilemma between love and hate, Gul's writers have always borrowed bits from their own shows and transformed those few moments into sheer magic that doesn't fade away.. And the fact that both Kunal and Shrenu are phenomenal performers shall certainly pave the way for yet another legendary romance..

Looking forward to some brain-storming and venting out sessions here at the forum.. 😉

Feel free to discuss guys.. But no bashing please. It's just unhealthy and often unnecessary..

P.S. does anyone know who's directing DBO? Coz if I'm not wrong Lalit Mohan is still working on IB..

Agree with you. I had actually prepared myself one week beforefor heartbreak early when I had heard that this show is gonna replica. Promo also testified it. So no surprise but yes afer watching disappointment is obvious.

Shrenal chemistry is amazing.

And after so much negative feeling there is one postive thing will happen in future. OSO transformation back to omkara.

Right now gul is showing dark version of om who is like tej, ruthless and heartless or in other words he is trying to be stone to defeat tej. But soon he will face real om in gauri. Because gauri will remind him of himself . he will get irritated to face his old self and this will make him detest gauri more. But gradually circumstances will make him return.

I am going to tolerate this OSO nonsense for few episodes because soon om will get entangled in Web of OSO v/s om. And this struggle will be beautiful to watch.

To be honest, I actually like that Gauri is similar to Anika. Because when it comes time to accepting Gauri as an O'Bahu, her bubbly personality and weird dictionary could very well play a part in that. I feel like it could work well with chemistry between the 6 main characters.

Who knows, maybe Shivaay will actually invite Gauri into an O'Bro moment because of that. Rudra invited Anika, Omkara invited Saumya, and Gauri is all that's left. Hoping for the best.

Besides I always say, the romance and plot may be alike, it's the actors who bring a touch of themselves in the characters😆

N we all know that no1 can top gul where love stories n awesome. Chemistry are concerned😳

Tina Darling, for the 1st time in many days I was waiting for u😊. I know we fought a lot for many things but I actually found u polite n sweeter than many others. Plz plz plz, read all my posts of today which will shock, surprise or make u proud of me. I say dat I never bash Om which was so wrong as I bashed Om, Rudra n ACP too. My posts of today in this forum will surely show u dat Juhi can never be a blind fan of any character no matter who plays it. I loved Kunal 4m 4 years 4m TBP days but now I can't love him. Just go to my profile n read all my posts of 2day in dis forum.

I am not even going into Gul's previous shows like Geet, IPKKND, QH or anything else!!!We all know she has a set mould for her male leads and all fit the same size!!!!

But DBO is not Ishqbaaz's spin off, it is IB's clone!!!!🤢

Omkara by the virtue of his not being Gul's main lead was not made on this mould (he actually reminded me of one of my favourite male leads and he was the sole reason I watch IB)!!!!😊 😊 😊 😊

But now he has been turned into a Shivaay clone and his love story is going exactly the same way!!!!😒 😒 😒 😒 😒

So I wonder why they are even bothering to make another show??😕 😕 😕 😕

Anika's brother - Gauri's mother, Anika's bua - Gauri's chachi and trouble in form of rich brat!!!!🥱 🥱 🥱 🥱

Hello.. The only good thing happening in the show is Kunal and Shrenu's fresh and crackling obvious chemistry.. 2-days old and they're literally breathing life into Om/OSO and Gauri..

I've always said and believed that each one of the Obros would lose the very core of their identities in order to fall in love and then feel it.. Shivaay is getting there, Om has just set out on the path to find himself, and Rudy has yet to get hit by the train.. 😆

Absolutely agreed.. It's the struggle between the good and bad that shall be worth it in the end..

Hey! Yup.. I personally think it's grossly unfair to compare Gauri to Anika or Om to Shivaay.. Coz essentially they're all cast from the same mould that Gul has forged and re-used over the years..

Although I do believe that Om and we viewers, could have survived without yet another bubbly, OTT FL, we don't really have a say, do we!

@red: Now, that's a very interesting way to look at it.. And it does make perfect sense..

Well said. The key to surviving this one is to treat DBO like an individual show.. If one sits down to count similarities and differences between the revamped versions of the original IB characters, the entire purpose of the spin-off will be defeated.

Coz, both you and me know that this is not just about IB and DBO.. The seeds were sown back in 2010.

I guess that's one way of putting it.. Most certainly, there was no reason for the makers to shove Om down the same tried snd tested angry-young man route.. He was and I feel still is a kind soul, damaged at the moment but nonetheless alive..

I'd say DBO and even IB are all forged from the original.. The very 1st 4 lions show. The novelty factor ended right back in 2011 never to return. The writers, producers and stylists have since then only reaped the fruits of the hard work put in by their dialogue writers and of course the actors..

Om is still waay different from SSO.. And i'd really have to make a separate post to say why..

So yeah, though not entirely over the moon, Im just glad that kunal has earned a show as the ML.. The chap is surely one of gul's finest findings..

P.S. I love the subtlety with which u pointed out similarities between Omkara and your favourite ML.. Btw any news if editor sahab has any plans of returning to the small screen? 😛
