I rather wait for the episode to see what the hell is going on but yes groom leaving the bride at the mandap to console best friend is odd. regardless of the context, it is an embarrassing and awkward position for the bride to be in. especially because the rituals are about to begin while they are sitting at the mandap.

He'll get married to Maya but who knows how committed he will be? He is not the kind of guy who can handle a girl like Maya. She is too unstable for him. He himself is an obtuse fool. All I know is whatever happens, Arjun ki baand bajne wale hai! LOL

Its funny how the same ppl who think that maya was humiliated at the mandap did not find anything wrong when Arjun humiliated Saanjh in front of maya in the office. Some even laughed and said she deserved it. If maya is allowed to have her moments with Arjun, then Saanjh should also be allowed to have her moments with Arjun. Arjun did not leave the mandap for any random person, but for that best friend who just refixed his wedding and is now leaving it. It's a childhood friendship and a special bond that cannot be broken due to a third person's entry. Ever wondered why mayas manipulations never managed to separate Saanjh Arjun? Because of this strong bond that they share.
