Part 2
"What???" Riya cringed as Nikki yelled right after she'd filled her in about what had happened that morning. She was still surprised she had managed to keep it to herself until Nikki got back home from college.
"I think you heard it wrong or just misinterpreted. How can bhai be in love? I mean it's 'bhai' " she said making air quotations on bhai. She was sure her Riya Di had mistaken. It was humanly not possible for Dev Dixit to have a relationship to someone other than his work.
"Um no. That's what i thought too. But his exact words were' I fell in love with my best friend'. There's no way I misread that. It's clear. Bhai's in love." Riya announced like it was a revelation more interesting than the grammy's.
The two sisters stared at each other disbelievingly. This was a life changing transformation in their brother's life and they'd been unaware of it.
"Who do you think it is? I'm shocked hearing bhai has a female friend and that too a best friend. Who do you think she is?" Riya asked Nikki once they'd gotten out of their shock. Or maybe not. They were going to reel with it for the rest of their lives.
"How am i supposed to know? It's not like he tells me anything. No one ever tells me anything." Nikki complained giving a pointed look at Riya. Riya flushed and gave an apologetic look to Nikki. She'd still not quite forgiven Riya for hiding about her relationship with Amit.
"So what do you think we should do now?" Riya asked changing the topic.
"Obviously we need to find out who's the mystery woman in his life." Nikki said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Sure. And who's gonna tell us? Brother dearest?"Riya said sarcastically, crossing her arms against her chest.
"Why can't you think something on your own? Why am i supposed to do all the thinking?"Nikki complained to which Riya rolled her eyes.
Her phone buzzed abruptly with a message and she checked the sender. The next moment her eyes widened and she excitedly showed the phone to Nikki. Nikki looked at tie sender's name and her eyes widened in excitement and she looked abruptly at Riya. The two sisters held hands and squealed like India had won the world cup.
"Tina can help us find the woman since she spends more time with bhai than us."Riya shared with Nikki excitedly. Nikki stopped her squealing and gave Riya a 'you're stupid look'.
"Why would you ask the sugarcane where's the juice?" She told her proverbially and Riya gave her a weird look.
"That saying does not even make sense. And why do you think the mystery woman is Tina?"
"Because like you said bhai spends more time with her than he does with us. She knows probably everything about him. And he obviously shares a lot with her. And he said that his workaholic behaviour won't be a big trouble for him because obviously she's his secretary and that means she could be with him 24*7. Isn't it kind of obvious?" Nikki said reasoning her plausible deduction. Riya thought for a while before nodding her head.
"You're right. It is possible. But how do we find out if it's true or not?" Riya asked once she'd agreed with Nikki's reasoning. Her brother and his secretary hunh. Who knew??
"Use that brain of yours sometimes. How much will you exhaust a kid?" Nikki said making a sad face and Riya rolled her eyes at her theatrics. Drama queen.
"You know what? Let's just confront bhai. There's no use beating around the bush. It's not like we went out of the way to find out about his life. He was more than willing to share it. Let's ask him when he gets back home." Riya told Nikki firmly and Nikki looked nervously at her sister.
Sonakshi was sure she was having a heart attack. There was no other reason for the way she was hyperventilating right now.
Dev was an idiot. What was he thinking before announcing something like that?
Every time any of Dev's family came to her she got the feeling she was busted though thankfully nothing had happened. Yet.
She felt nervous and clammy all day and Dev too had been busy throughout to call her. She was going to kill him, Sona thought anxiously as she waited for the clock to strike 7 so she could leave the house.
At 6.30 sharp Dev entered the house, whistling merrily. When he spotted her he winked at her before grinning impishly. Sonakshi gave him a shocked look.Had he lost his senses somewhere?
"Hello Dr. Bose! How was your day?" Dev asked her cheekily as he entered the kitchen and asked kicchu bhaiya to make his coffee.
Sonakshi tried to keep her voice in control as she answered him. Aunty ji was already sitting on the sofa along with Maamiji who although was filing her nails but had her ears and their conversation.
"It was good Mr. Dixit. What about you?" she asked between gritted death. She felt more conscious than ever thanks to Dev.
Before Dev could answer Riya and nikki rushed down the stairs and crowded around their brother. Ishwari and Mamiji looked confused at the siblings.
"We need answers. Who's the love of your life?"
