I'm terribly going to miss this man. He was ONE SOLE character who kept the momentum in the story going. Mat mar Ashwin, tere bina hum sab ka kya hoga? 😭 Okay, mourning aside, Ashwin said if Maya goes to jail, she'll at least be given a minimum of 2o-25 years of sentence. If that doesn't sum her past to be a criminal one or at least that has a criminal angle to it, then I don't know what does. I won't go all guns blazing with murder or other theories as of now because I'd like to wait a little and watch. Jhanvi has burned that file but I'm pretty sure there's a copy of it somewhere. Ashwin can't be that clumsy and stupid. Also, Jhanvi isn't the killer either, any of the characters who says or express a desire to kill Ashwin won't be the real killer. Suspect list narrows down to the most obvious (yet too predictable and convenient) Maya and some unknown person.
Pandit actually laid the whole story line for you out there. He essentially gave it all out, Maya's love for Arjun is the most truest yet the most destructive thing ever, beyhadh pyaar. Arjun is fated to suffer and fight his own battles and recognize his true love which will the only force capable of saving him. That's basically a journey beginning with Maya-Arjun eventually leading to Arjun-Saanjh. I am not saying this, this is exactly what the show/writers intend to tell us. Personally, I honestly don't care who ends up with whom. I'm here just for good story telling, that's it. Take it any way you'd like to, though. I'm sure the forum is gonna be on fire with the fan wars, get set go ArYa and SaJun shippers! Bas mere threads mein mat lad padna. 😆
Allow me to close on Arjun's dialogue, 'Aaj ke baad humare beech sirf tum aaogi' or something along those lines (don't remember the exact words) which translates to, 'the only person who can come between the two of us is, you' and that is precisely what is going to happen. Maya drove Arjun in and it is her who is going to drive him out. She's both the winner and the loser in this game of life. What irony!
@Precap - Vandana is scared out of her wits. Poor lady! Has legit reasons to be panicked though. Maya's defo not going to drive over Vandana and Saanjh. 😆 Can't even be sure if those two scenes are actually happening in the same timeline with respect to each other. That is probably just to drive home a point that Maya is capable of doing anything. Anything.

Since this theory popped up into my head while replying to lumos, I thought of adding it to the main post.
Someone needs to pull out a list of criminal offense(s) and the punishment meted out for each, so we can at least narrow down the list of offenses Maya could have committed. I won't completely rule out the murder angle as of now but yeah, that would be going way too far. Also, 'cause murder would mean life imprisonment and not just 20-25 years of jail.
Theory #1 : I'm more drawn to the theory of an accident. She might have unintentionally caused someone's death (due to some to accident) and perhaps, played a role in dusting the crime under the carpet. She might have been made to believe or mistakenly believed herself that she's responsible for it when in reality it could have been someone else while she was just a pawn or had to play a part owing to whatever the circumstances could have been. That's one theory for now.
