You have seen him play a guy-next-door in Sadda Haq; now actor Param Singh undergoes a complete transformation as essays Rangeela in Ghulaam, the latest series on Life OK channel that this Mumbai boy plays the lead in. The challenge is to play a character completely opposite to the real' him.
"Look at my face," he puts his most adorable profile forward. "Do I look like a ruthless goon, but that is what I turn when on the sets," opens up Param, famously known as Randhir Singh Shekhawat from Sadda Haq. An actor is what he always wanted to be. Double masters - in business administration and finance " it was at 24 that he decided to follow his dream. There was family business too; what kind, we ask? "We are sardars, transport is all we do," he quips.
A diploma from Barry John Acting Studio and in the city where many struggle for years, Param got his first break rather easily! Over the years, he has grown to like what he picked up.
"Each morning, I look forward to putting on my make-up, rehearsing my lines and getting in front of the camera." If the high of being a telly actor for him is giving a convincing shot, it's the lack of time between getting the script and delivering the shot that he rues. "Time is precious when you are on a daily soap. While I don't regret not getting time for self, it's not getting time to prepare and present that I don't like."
Doing daily soap means that's all that one is doing, but Param has found a way out. Like this Holi, it is Goa on his list and he has already told his production house about the two-day non- availability! "After all, we all will die someday; as much as I love my work, I also need to live."
Food is what he loves and he swears to be single! Question him about his co-star Harshita Gor and he isn't the one to go into a friendship mode. "I do have lots of friends who are girls but I don't have a girlfriend." And, as the eyebrows go up, he is quick to clear, "Of course I would have some day; I am completely straight."
Delayed flights, time crunch and impending shoot the next day; Param juggles between the meals and questions. Despite being a sardar, he cannot speak Punjabi; something he is not too proud of. "Marathi neither," he confesses. But sure he has the Haryanavi tinge right whenever he gets into Ghulaam mode. "I took the workshop for two months to work on the character."
Another interesting thing we get to know about him is that he is a social media recluse. No presence on Instagram or Facebook, he is not even on whatsapp. "I am on Twitter, largely to talk about my show and character." Twitter because here he can talk more or he is not keen to share his gym or vacation selfies with the world, "There is a line between the personal and professional," he insists. We respect that!
P.S - On twitter param replied under this article "dekha kaha tha na i am single" 🤣 what a joke xD
