I think she is some distant relative adopted by bauji. Kunal calls her mausi but his mother called her behen jaisi nand. Her status seems like part family - part hired, trusted help.

She definitely has ulterior motives and has been against the alliance since she found out that the potential bride was educated and would most probably work in the family business

Good point. She put Nirmala down in Tuesday. She plays nice but definitely has some ulterior motive.
