Hi guys! Thank you so much for the amazing feedback both here as well as on the messages. So yesterday, I had individually thanked i everyone for their replies and kind words but then I had run out of the number of posts that I am allowed to make :P
So I am going to take this opportunity and just give a shoutout to each of you who have taken the time to actually leave me with such positive feedback - thank you so much! I appreciate the feedback immensely and it is honestly extremely encouraging!
Also, SRKian has been extremely kind to have offered to help me with knowing how to add hyperlinks to my index on Page 1...so once we have that figured out I will update that one too! Thank you so much SRKian - from a fellow SRKian ;) Hahaha.
Anyway, this is a sort of bonus chapter...because I had not originally written this in...but once I had this idea I felt this was sort of an essential part of the story.
Happy reading!!

2.1 Aftermath
"What the hell have you been thinking Shivaay?" Om's raised voice surprised Shivaay.
It was almost one in the morning by the time the last guests had left and his whole family was now surrounding him and Tia in their living room.
And as he turned to look straight into his brother's face, he was taken aback at the multiple expressions playing so openly on the face that he loved more than his own life - shock, disappointment, and more importantly accusation.
Shivaay sighed. He had known this was coming.
Ever since last night's circus when his family had finally come to know that it had been Annika under the ghoonghat, the tension within the house had almost been palpable. And he had then naively imagined that the nightmarish day couldn't possibly get any worse.
However, the day had just begun, because it had then progressively gone from worse to worse-er.
So just as the confrontation with the family had finally been closed off - well...kind of... since the issue was just well left there - he had received a call, which had shocked him.
Tia had been kidnapped.
His heart racing, he had immediately set about making arrangements. Because whether married or not, Tia's safety was his responsibility.
Of course she hadn't run away from her wedding.
How thick could he have gotten?
He mentally kicked himself for even doubting her for a second.
A girl like Tia - with such unsullied lineage could never become so irresponsible.
How had he even thought that she would bail on him like that?
He should have known that something was wrong. And worse of all, he hadn't even tried to call her or even spent a moment thinking about her once he had found the letter.
He had been absolutely careless. He winced as he furiously buttoned the last cufflink on his striped shirt before pulling on the plain tweed coat over his shoulders.
What if something happened to her now because of him?
Even as he thought that, he found himself hurrying as he finished changing into his normal clothes and picked up the small suitcase full of cash that had been neatly put on his bedside table.
This was his fault, and he would be damned if he let anything happen to someone close to him. Especially someone who was his responsibility.
He was a little overwhelmed with emotion when Om and Rudra had stubbornly argued with him that they were coming with him. His immediate reaction was obviously 'no' because not only was this whole thing potentially dangerous, but it was also not their problem.
But he had melted when they had refused to budge on the issue.
He really could deny them nothing.
Mercifully there was little drama at the spot where the kidnappers had promised to bring Tia - they had taken their money and had left.
But even as he had thought that, his eyes fell on the lifeless sack that they had tossed behind. And for a moment then he had actually thought he had failed.
Maybe he had really been too late.
Beside him he had also felt Om and Rudra stiffen up.
The sack in which they had wrapped Tia lay so absolutely motionless.
But then she had moved, and he had felt so relieved that he had run towards her and gathered her in his arms as she started regaining consciousness.
This was his fault.
He shouldn't have been this careless with her security. Of course she was on the radar ever since he had announced their wedding...and he should have anticipated this.
Behind him, he had heard both Om and Rudra sigh with relief.
A small part of him even then registered that while they were genuinely relieved that Tia was okay, it was momentary only, because just then Om had mumbled something about going on to check on somebody else and had left.
Rudra had just gotten up quietly and sat waiting patiently in the driving seat of their car.
Supportive, but distant and cold. Yes, that summarised ...accurately.
So it had been almost an hour later that Shivaay, an uncharacteristically quiet Rudra and an extremely 'in-shock' Tia had walked into an unusually silent Oberoi Mansion.
His usually vocally opinionated daadi had taken one look at the three of them entering together and had walked away.
While Priyanka had run to get a glass of water and had helped Tia get comfortable on the sofa, there was a strange cold vibe emanating from her.
She had refused to look at him.
To be honest, he had completely zoned off his mom after she had launched into a full tirade over the horrible scam that was the wedding' and a hundred oh my maata's'.
His bade papa had quietly said that he would re-look at security arrangements before he too had left.
Badi Ma had looked straight into his eyes and honestly that had told him everything. She was disappointed. And she had refused to hide it.
So really, this, this confrontation after his announcement tonight, was something that he had expected ever since he had made plans that afternoon.
But what really took him aback were the drastically changed dynamics within his own family - never had he imagined that each of them would be pulling away from him?
So when he had seen those emotions mirrored on Om's face, a small part of him flinched.
Wouldn't even his brothers understand him?
Even as he grappled with searching for words that would soothe Om, Rudra's surprisingly soft voice broke through his inner thoughts.
"What did you do to force Annika di into marrying you bhaiya?"
It wasn't the actual question really, but the innocence in his brother's eyes that had forced him to look away.
Boom... "Saahil!!!"
Annika running towards the blast
Tum mujse shaadi karogi
The images in his head all came to whirling stop.
They wouldn't understand. At least not right now.
"Your eyes betray you Shivaay." Om's voice broke through his thoughts.
And it brought him up short.
"Only people who have know they have done something wrong are afraid of looking straight into someone's eyes."
Another flinch.
But even as he felt a small part of him surrender to that, the stronger part of his stood up.
The practiced mask now unflinchingly in place, he looked straight into both his brothers' eyes and said softly but with the same authority that he had perfected over years of experience negotiating and finalizing deals that sealed the fate of not just whole businesses but also small countries.
Hence, even while his voice adopted the same softness that he had always used only for his brothers, there was a certain defiance in his tone that he had never before used with them.
"I haven't done anything wrong. I have always done what is best for this family, and today is just another example of it."
Wanting to avoid lying to them, he moved to walk away, but felt Om's restraining hand on his arm.
And he could never walk away from his brothers when they pulled him.
"Shivaay I know you think you are doing what is best for this family, but for once I want to tell you something that I never thought I would tell you."
Om's voice was neither coated, nor did it have any practiced edge.
It was just.
And this broke his mask, as he looked right into Om's sincere yet soft eyes.
"If there is ever a time when I have to choose between family and truth, I will always choose the truth. I would never be able to hurt you but I will not be able to live with deceit."
Shivaay visibly winced. Even the idea of having Om resenting him or leaving him was enough to break him.
His brothers were his life.
He would prefer a million deaths before he could even think of being separated from the. So even though the words registered, he could not comprehend the words.
No. No. No.
And he turned away from them. He didn't want them to see him becoming weak.
He would shield them even from his own weaknesses.
But that's when Pinky had had enough it seemed and it all went spiraling from there.
"Oh my maata Om! Tu apne bhai se aisa kaise bol sakta hai? Have you forgottens what Shivaay has done for you?"
"Pinky! Let the boys talk - we shouldn't..."
"Please aap kuch mat bolo jethaniji... why is my son always blamed?"
"Shivaay is always doing everything for his brothers, but instead of being gratefuls, they don't wait a minute before turning on him. Kyun?"
But before anyone could react anymore, Shakti, had had enough too it seemed.
"Bas! Not another word. I have had enough of this absolute circus. I am tired. And so is every single person in this room."
Bade papa nodded silently. He walked to the centre of the living room and added quietly.
"We'll talk about everything calmly tomorrow morning. It is time that decisions start being made in ways that they have always been made. Thoughtfully. Not impulsively. And definitely not based on emotions that are sky rocketing right now."
Shivaay didn't really miss the pressing stare that his bade papa gave him when he was speaking.
But with that, the four older Oberoi's walked away. Pinky being almost forcefully dragged by her husband.
Shivaay was again surprised when his daadi brushed past him silently and without looking at him once. But then turned suddenly and spoke directly to Tia.
"Tia" daadi started coldly... "Since my grandson has made his decision, I am going to be announcing mine."
Startled, he waited.
"As Shivaay's friend, you are welcome to stay in this house as a guest. However, Annika is his wife. I want you to remember the distinction between these two relationships while you are under this roof."
Even as he heard 'wife' for the first time, a small tug at his chest alerted him to the spiralling consequences. However, Tia's protest broke through his thoughts.
"But grandma..."
Shivaay stared at his daadi. But she stubbornly refused to even look at him.
She had held up a hand to stop Tia.
"This wasn't a negotiable decision Tia. This is still my house. And you both will have to wait for my death before I let anyone trample over the sacredness of a marriage."
That was another blow to his heart.
Shivaay closed his eyes as he physically felt the stab this time.
Without sparing her oldest grandson a single glance and having made her stance clear, daadi walked off.
Knowing that there was little that anyone could do anymore; Tia squeezed Shivaay's shoulders softly before walking towards the left wing of the house where she knew there were about a dozen guest rooms.
Not knowing what to say or how to get to him anymore, the youngsters each filed off - each for the first time battling with their own ideologies and contemplating the consequences (both good and bad) that were assuredly going to follow.
Shivaay Singh Oberoi stood alone under the still twinkling lights of the living room, contemplating.
His thoughts invariably pulled towards a certain brown honeyed eye brunette that he had now invariably tied himself too.
