SRK is taking the route of AB who has one of the longest career in Bollywood. He will do 1 big and few smaller ones in a year with few cameo on side. It is a decision that some one in his position has to make. Go for long career with few step backs or go for short but glorious one. Salman is following the second strategy. It won't last long but it will be good as long as it lasts.
Akki is late bloomer. He is trying everything for first time and succeeding. He never got this chance when he was young. SRK and Aamir were first choices when something new was going to be tried. Now that Shahrukh is deemed expensive, Aamir has become reclusive (1 movie per 2 year) and Salman is making similar kind of movie, he is getting his chance and he is grabbing it with both hands. His work is novel experience for audience. And he is doing it well.
Next on his list will be doing multi starrer with younger crowd. He tried Dilwale but I don't think it was best attempt. He will try again sometime. Dhoom - 4 is red herring. YRF needs fast paced cheaper younger gen for Dhoom.
I don't think SRK is planning to be king again. There is new crowd of stars and wannabe getting in every day and audience is getting younger.
