Suhasini stood facing the door of her maternal home, rejected and disowned by her own mother in the moment of need. That moment of intense amalgamation of feelings like anger, pain, betrayal and nostalgia, brought light of realization to Suhasini's darkness filled mind.

That moment she knew that the fruits of her own doings were tormenting her. She had been the one to desert her daughter when she needed her the most and destiny chose to show her the same fate, make her feel the same pain of betrayal which Khushi felt. After all, it only made sense that the culprit became the victim of their own medicine.

That moment she grew aware of irrevocably and insanely wrong she was. Blind in her husband's devotion, she had forsaken a daughter who was no less than a gem. A greater regret? The husband was one who cared less of her happiness and more of his.

"Khushi.."

-------------------------------------------------
The Court,

Sumitra, Khushi's ex-to-be-mother-in-law, chose to extend her support to Khushi and explained how wrong Sudhakar's views were, providing proofs from the betrothal of Khushi to her son against her wish and his eagerness to push his daughter into what seemed like the best alliance he could fetch, politically and financially of course.

Rahul, too, had proved to exceed Khushi's expectations, much to Khushi's surprise. She realized that he was forced into it as much as her and was left with almost no choice. It was only after Sumitra and Rahul leaving Rahul's father that they realized the true meaning of having a choice, the meaning of freedom to decide for yourself.

The minute of judgement finally arrived and Khushi knew that she awaited it since she had run away with Arnav. Only, she thought that the judgement time for her father would arrive after his death but destiny had shown mercy by deciding to punish him on earth itself. Probably, hell couldn't have enough punishments to deal with the deeds he committed, she thought as Arnav held her hand in an assuring grasp.

"After listening to pleas and arguments of both the sides, the court has decided its stand. The Court declares Sudhakar Gupta acquitted of all the charges due to the lack of proof for the charges filed against him," announced the judge, while Khushi and Arnav pushed themselves to their feet.

"WHAT! This cannot be possible. You can't be serious," Khushi yelled, moving towards the center of room, fuming in fury which made everyone flinch in fear.

"Ms.Gupta," the judge began, only to be cut by Khushi hotly, "That would be Mrs.Raizada."

"Mrs.Raizada, if you don't calm yourself at this moment, you might find yourself behind the bars for questioning the verdict of the court," warned the judge with a smirk which matched Sudhakar Gupta's smirk.

Arnav took long strides to reach Khushi, standing like a lion in between a herd of cunning foxes. Sliding his warm palm into hers, he whispered, "Calm down, love."

Khushi shot him an incredulous look, almost questioning his sanity through it. How could he expect her to retain her composure when she had just heard the most unfair judgement which could be passed? She had been expected a reduced sentence, but acquitted of all the charges? She wondered if there was a way to bribe the destiny as well. For a second, her belief in karma seemed flicker to a point of extinguistion.

"Mr.Raizada, it would be best if you guide your wife from the center of the room or face the dire consequences. The next time, you won't be given a warning," the judge mocked.

The fact that he did not try to hide his malice behind a facade of helplessness made the situation so heated. Arnav put his arm around his wife, from whom he could feel heat emanating from owing to her intense fury.

"Khushi, please come. For me, for Maa," he pleaded. The mention of her Sumitra Maa made her fury melt into yet another reactive emotion: pain.

Khushi walked, almost dragging Arnav with her and took her seat beside her unusually calm Sumitra Maa.

"Maa, don't worry, we will get you justice. We will move to a higher court, we will appeal right away. I will ensure that you get justice, Maa. Hai Na Arnav?" she asked, turning to Arnav, who was taken by surprise by Khushi's emotional outburst.

"I always knew that this would happen, Beta. But a part of me learned to hope from the two of you and now, that part merged with the rest of me. YOU don't worry, Beta. I am fine," said Sumitra with a weak affectionate smile on her place, signing to Arnav that it was the time to depart from the once sacred room of justice.

"Come, let us leave, Khushi," Arnav said, pulling her up with him as she turned numb listening to her mother. How many trials and tribulations must she have gone through to attain such coolness, she thought as she felt the pain of her trials hurt her own soul.

Before they could exit the courtroom, Sudhakar made his entry before his wife, daughter and son-in-law.

"So you thought that you can put your father in jail, daughter. Did you forget that I am your father and would remain a step ahead of you always?" he taunted, looking at the limp figure of his daughter which sprung to life, listening to her mother's culprit's words.

"Unfortunately, I cannot forget that I am your daughter. It is my misfortune that I have your blood, a rapist's and a murderer's blood, flowing in my veins. It is a greater misfortune that you are still standing in front of me and taunting me, as if I am a culprit, when you, of all the people, roam freely, acquitted of all the charges," Khushi retorted, with a fire which neither Arnav nor Sumitra had ever seen before in her.

"How dare you? For a second I thought that I will let you go alive with your idiotic husband but now you showed me how wrong that thought of mine was," he yelled, not caring that he was standing in a court room. Why should he? He had power which had turned them all deaf and blind.

He pulled out his revolver and aimed at the one sharing his blood. Khushi stood defiant to her ground, almost daring him to turn his threat into reality.

Hot blood splayed across the faces of Sudhakar's family, right from the chest which held love just for power and fame. His eyes traveled down to his chest where a bullet had hit him and turned around to face his culprit to get the biggest and last shock of his misogynous life.

Suhasini Gupta had shot her husband Sudhakar Gupta, and she seemed to have no regrets of the same.
