While I agree with the statement, I would have to stop her for a second. The double standard behind this statement is so real. Deepika Padukone speaks on accepting accents, and yet there are foreigners in Bollywood that get so much shit just for speaking Hindi with an accent. 😕

I get it. It's time that we accept Indian accepts in Hollywood. But like...what about those who are nor of Indian descent but they are working in Bollywood, and they have an accent.

Aside from my over-analytical mind, I see what point Deepika is making here...there's no harm in being proud of your heritage.

Good point. The ones who would be proud of DP for not changing her accent, would absolutely castigate Kat for speaking Hindi in an accent. 😆

Which is exactly why I don't really agree with Deepika here although I understand where she's coming from.

I really appreciate her for this. She knows how to pick her causes.

The Indian accent has been pilloried for too long and too many people have been shamed and embarrassed because of it.

It's also quite intriguing to see people who otherwise claim to be patriots of the highest order but will shame people like Deepika for her accent or not want dark-skinned Indians to be depicted on screen.

Good on her.

I love it when people speak in their natural accents.. I love it when people speak english in South Indian or any other Indian accent.. whhyyy, a man speaking with Spanish/European accent in english is said to be "hot" but, when a person speaks in his native SI accent, it is said to be so 'ewww'. It ought to make one belonging to India sooo sentimental and happy 😃

😆 at those who are defending deepika for having an accented English, while these some of them bash Katrina for her accented Hindi. Hypocrisy is thy my name and this is seem a lot in IF.

Indian characters in Hindi films in videshi accent. Not the same as Indian character in English film with Indian accent. Deepika is not playing an American in American film but Kat plays Indian in Indian films..not the same thing.
