With no disrespect to the people suffering from mental ailments, I agree with you that mentally ill people shouldn't be hated or ostracized. But slightly disagree with them not being feared. I think not fearing them would not be something that would come easy to those who don't know much about this and also due to the fact that mentally ill people are somewhat unpredictable. But this again depends on the degree or the type of mental illness a person is suffering.
