My point was insults to the bride who never demanded anything nor had any say in any decisions. She just wanted to spend the rest of her life with the man she loves. Period!!! For which she was punished, insulted, humiliated enough. Any other bride would have just stopped the wedding.

Here's my question. What was your feeling when Dev's family was blaming Sona in attack mode (three people against one) and Dev was looking at her as if it was her demand to put non-veg on the menu and as if he and his mother didn't agree to it?

Not once he said that it was my decision to agree to something Sona's family wanted. Sona never said nor asked anything about it other than thanking me for thinking of her family.

But when a woman is insulted in front of her new family, that's her due for being a woman, yet when a man is asked a question (a very valid question) in front of HIS family (not HER family), the sympathy well pours over on his very non-existent wound.

Like I said, judgement is always reserved for women because we are raised to think like that in society. God forbid a woman actually dares to question the unfairness and injustice done to her.

Dev can look at the big picture because no one is forcing him to live with a new family who is just tolerating his presence because of their daughter. He can also afford to look at the big picture because no one is insulting him or humiliating him in every step. If anything, he is treated like royalty.

Sona can only see the big picture when Dev blocks everyone of the little every day insults and humiliation like he did yesterday.

So the expectations lies now with Dev because he brought her into his house with promises to protect her honour and dignity.

Very true Tia... Which is why the whole post wedding scenario is manyfold unfair and stressful for the bride than the groom. However, in this particular instance,

1. Sona knows what she has walked into. She rushed into the wedding and is now bearing the consequences. inevitable when you have a husband like Dev
2. Am glad Dev stood up for her next day
3. however, I am happier Sona dealt with this herself.

My point is, Sona needs to stand up for herself... because 1. Dev isnt going to be able to deal with this too well(history shows us) and 2. best to keep husband out of this

And... I hope she stays out of the car keys drama which I know she wont

Sona definitely needs to stand up for herself. But it's hard to live in a toxic environment where you are against the whole family. It's like they are wedging a war against a single woman. Why should she fight that alone when one word from Dev can end all insults? And if she needs to, then what is the point of being married?

If Dev really wants to be kept out of it, he needs to keep his mouth shut in every occasion including when his family member complaints, not just when Sona speaks. He can't get offended when Sona insults his family member back. Although what kind of home situation it will be where his family would hate his wife and his wife would hate his family? Will he be able to relax and be comfortable in that situation?

Sona rushed into the wedding. That's absolutely correct. She should not have.

But did you notice that when Dev defended her yesterday, she got courage to stand up for herself. You see a woman takes cues from her husband in her in-laws just like a man takes cues from his wife at his. Husband and wife are one entity. They have to face whatever comes there way together.

Insulting Sona is not just insulting her, it's also insulting Dev because after marriage, they became one.
