Sri Rama Rajyam was a remake of the telugu movie Lava Kusa which came in the 60s. Storyline of both is exactly the same, and so far SKR has followed the script of that movie 85%. They are highly inspired by it, it's quite blatantly obvious.
While the first half of those movies was inspired by Valmiki Ramayan, the last half isn't. The last half followed some regional versions, some of it made-up (like Luv Kush's antagonism towards Ram).
That's not the reason I do not like those movies though. Actually, Valmiki Ramayan's Uttar Kand itself is interpolated and scholars say that it's not a part of the original epic, which I find believable.
I find the characters of Ram and Sita so weak in these movies, and totally out of character to the rest of the epic. They lack trust in this version. Ram keeps secrets Sita which is unwarranted and makes no sense, and Sita is constantly trying to kill herself.
Even the Bhumi pravesh makes no sense. The original reason Sita did bhumi pravesh was to regain her children's lost honor in Ayodhya, and to give them their rights so that people never point fingers at their parentage. But in these movies, Sita does bhumi pravesh for the sake of it, without no real reason. Her promise to Bhudevi lacks justification.
As interpolated as Valmiki's UK is, in that version the praja demand Sita to give yet another test in front of them, if they are to accept Luv Kush as their heirs, and thus Sita does bhumi pravesh, to shut their mouths forever.
For her to do it just for the sake of doing it is senseless.
Most of all, what I dislike most about these movies is how despicably Luv Kush behave. They are so rude and disrespectful.
It makes us wonder what kind of upbringing Sita gave her children.
The upbringing that the real Sita Ma gave, would never make Luv Kush so rude and disobedient. They'd be the ideal children, raised by their ideal mother.
