There's a glass between us, We can see each other but not feel anything - Rishi on son Ranbir

October 3, 2016 Karishma Shetty 19403 reads 4 comments

Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor recently graced the first episode of the returning talk show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, in Melbourne.

From his infamous and hilarious tweets to their son Ranbir Kapoor, nothing was spared!
When asked about his relationship with his now famous son Rishi said, "There's a wall between us. There's a glass between us. We can see each other but not feel anything. I had a fear of my father. I was in awe of him. I had great respect for him. It took him a long time to say have a drink in front of me. I used to call him sahab. Now that we don't live under one roof, there's more communication. He (Ranbir Kapoor) talks to his mother more than me. But I don't think Ranbir will be a father like me."
On the same lines, Neetu responded, "I was away for a few days and Ranbir was home. I kept calling him to ask how're you doing. He said I'm fine, I'm having dinner with papa and all that. So when I got back, I was like how was it? He said we had a few quiet moments. He said koi baat hi nahin huyi. Hum dinners pe jaate thhe aur khana khate thhe. I have to be there in the house for a conversation to happen between them."
Honest and candid, just like Chintuji!

Awww that's just sad.

It's unfortunate when people bring lives into the world just for the heck of it. Do bache karne the kar liye sorts. Parenting is a tough role to take on, don't take it up unless you are willing to surrender to it completely.

Aww sad. Unfortunately this is often too many times that the father is seen as a "respect" figure, which blocks off emotional connection amongst the kids.
Messed up!!!!

This is taken from this interview. Watch from 25 mins onwards. Its really sad that Chintu jee doesn't give RK the daddy that he needs in life.
If you notice, Neetu also doesn't make any effort to make situation better.

Boys need dads. They need a man in their life. Just like girls need their moms.

There's this IV of Ranbir where he mentions how traumatic his childhood was, how disgusted he was with his parents constantly fighting till 4 in the morning?.. N he would just sit on d steps waiting for them stop!
On the contrary it's good he didn't end up like his father n is much mellow. Tho looks constantly effed up /fed-up and so cold that barf bhi jamm jaye.

Well I dont know but I am skeptical since these BW people and esp Kapoors are melodramatic so wont take it as is. There is exaggeration of the event. Anyways, now a days rich parents and kids hardly interact. People think giving money and a luxurious lifestyle is everything. Relationships work when all adults concerned make efforts to make it work.

Well .. RK is messed up because of his father and that's sad .. but then if he has such issues with the way his father treated his mother, then at least RK can himself try to be a better boyfriend/husband. He keeps on cheating and has the audacity to brag about it on a national show like KWK. C'mon man .. I understand he has issues but it is weird how these people who feel bad about someone doing something, can do the same thing themselves.
The only good part is that Ranbir has not turned out physically abusive like his father. There were reports that Rishi used to beat up Neetu. But then, in general, men of the current generation are not as much about domestic abuse, as much as their previous generation was. That could be because of the women being stronger now.

Even Aamir had broken all ties with his father when his father cheated on his mother and married another woman. But then what did Aamir himself do? .. He kept on continuously cheating on his wife for years until she left him one day. His wife was a stronger woman than his mother and in today's time it is easier for women to get divorce. Otherwise, Aamir was living a married life similar to his father's.
