Injuries to their pacers have left KKR’s bowling looking a bit thin ahead of the season, in contrast to Mumbai Indians, who have a largely fit and firing attack. MI have often been slow starters in the IPL, but with conditions favouring them this time, they have a great opportunity to buck that trend with a win against a team they absolutely love to annihilate.

KKR, on the other hand, have added Cameron Green to their ranks, the most expensive pick of the IPL 2026 auction. Finn Allen is another exciting addition, coming in on the back of a prolific Big Bash League where he finished as the top run-scorer and carried that form into the T20 World Cup as well. KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane has grown up playing at the Wankhede and understands these conditions inside out. Youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi, also a Mumbai boy, adds another local touch to this clash.

Team News: MI are in a huddle and there's a cap presentation ceremony. Two debutants - AM Ghazanfar and Sherfane Rutherford have been handed their maiden caps. It's followed by a passionate huddle with Hardik Pandya doing all the talking

PITCH REPORT - Pommie Mbangwa says the Wankhede Stadium is looking a pretty picture. The square boundaries are equidistant at 64 metres, with 75 metres straight down the ground. He also notes that the venue averages around 14 sixes per IPL game. Michael Clarke calls the surface an absolute beauty, as usual. He points out a little bit of grass, which is slightly surprising, but feels it will help hold the pitch together and offer a bit of extra pace and bounce with the new ball. Clarke further says that change of pace will be crucial on this surface. He shares that teams generally prefer to chase here, making the most of the dew factor later in the game. Pommie feels that 200 is the benchmark, noting that it's the average winning score when batting first at this venue in the last 10 IPL games.
