Shivika Journey - My Analysis

But then Anika reenters his life. He is disturbed. She maynot have accepted the money but she still hurt his family and she is evil - his head tells him. But his heart tells him that she is innocent, brave, strong and funny girl who cares about people and puts a smile on their faces, even his - the scene where she tries to get somya and ru to be friends, he smiles and he feels happy just being there watching his sweet bro doing those crazy things to win the girls heart and its because of Anika. He is also physically attracted to her. He feels a sense of comfort being near her. The scene where he accidentally hugs her he has this sense of peace on his face - it wouldn't have been the same if it was Tia - he doesn't even let go of her hand till Om points out. At that point he still believes her to be evil and then he harshly accuses her again and is relieved she has walked away.

But as luck would have it, she is proven innocent and is back in his life again. This time he doesn't even have a reason to hate her. So he comes up with weak excuses like she is annoying, he asks her to not irritate him, to stay away from him, not talk to him. He can't handle her because his anger is a mask for the feelings he is developing for her and if she is allowed to be around him it will soon show. That's why I loved the dialogue if I shouldn't get angry for your antics what should I do, fall in love with you? Oops..he has said too much already. And he has moved away from Koi farak nah padta to I don't want to talk about her.

His ego is already weakened, his stance is already softened. What is this girl and what is she doing to him. He wants to explore it further and his subconscious starts to run away from commitment to Tia by him not choosing the date. He simply will have none of it because he needs to know what it is this thing with Anika. He wants to be near her when he is away and away from her when he is near her. Then she goes and saves his family putting herself at risk and thats enough to drive him crazy. But what is it that she is feeling for him? He now wants to test the waters - he imagines she is talking about their marriage because he is probably thinking about it when he is with her; when he realises for her he is just a job he pretends to be relieved but he wants to probe further and also reveal a little more about the asli shivaay to her. she asks him why doesn't he chose a date and his response to that is he could married in the moment because the only people he cares about are there and Ru finishes his thoughts by saying the girl he wants is also there and all he says to that is hmmm - but what that is saying is "shh..rudr, don't say it out, she is not ready yet!). He doesn't choose the date because he doesn't want to commit to tia because its not tia who is perfect for him but someone else!

Mallika comes, he gets the opportunity to spend more time with her and continue to explore his own feelings but also seek to understand hers. He unnecessarily picks a fight with her, teases her, grabs her and brings him close to her (though in a softer fashion than the pool scene) and stares at her to see whether she blushes, whether she is attracted to him or not, whether she feels all that he feels for her or not. In the party, when she asks him truth or dare, he asks her to reveal her truth in return for his. His truth is he is in love with her (he expresses it by calling her cute) but he is desperate to know hers. He has completely fallen head over heels in love with her. She has started to feel stirrings only now though...

Maybe I have read too much into the little nuances in their story development but the romantic in me made me want to believe that these small unsaid nuances are what the characters were feeling or thinking. It makes the whole story so romantic and beautiful. It makes Shivaay's character so beautiful. His version 2 that Anika brings out is the real Shivaay - the shivaay who doesn't care about wealth, family or any such thing. The shivaay who respects women who are self made, strong, independent. The shivaay who is all heart, who only is simple and all he wants is love and happiness of his near and dear one, who is ego free, worry free and is happy, truly happy. Its this version of Shivaay that Anika brings out that Mallika was referring to. His best version.

The way I look at this journey is for Shivaay the realisation (atlas at a subconscious level) that Anika is his destination came early on, he had to go through the journy to reach there and that was hard for him. But now it seems Shivaay has reached his destination it seems or is very very close to it. But for Anika, the journey itself may not be hard because she doesn't have the ego hurdles that Shivaay had. However the realisation that Shivaay is her destination is going to be a lot harder/slower for her (atleast I want it to be slow)

So Shivaay is going to have to wait for Anika to get there and I want to see Shivaay go crazy waiting for her. I want him to get desparate and do some stupid things (like trying to woo her with money), cute things(like writing the kind of letter they all wrote for Tia all by himself), wonderful things like those that he does for his bros and dadi and sis (Like caring for Sahil, saving Sahil from trouble/Bua) to make sure Anika understands he is the one for her. The journey has not been easy for him so he does deserve a good ending to it. Just being with Anika is enough for the real Shivaay. All that the real Shivaay wants is love and Anika will give him lot of that. But until then Shivaay has to wait and woo his lady love. Atleast I hope this how they develop their story!
