Fan- Why did it flop despite being a decent film?

I finally watched Fan and I'm surprised that this film failed.

Sure, it wasn't a great film. The second half was nowhere as good as the first half.

But surely this was better than the masala films SRK has been a part of in recent times? Even Dilwale did better business and it had negative word of mouth.

Was the word of mouth poor for Fan?

I personally did not like fan.. It was boring as hell..

SRK (the star one)was rude in it.. I didn't like gaurav either..

I think the hype died down after movie got released as not many people wr vocal.. and whoever spoke abt it there wr mixed reactions

cos lack of comprehension skills and intellectualism to understand this masterpiece movie ! 😃

on a serious note: the content of the movie didnot go down well with the audience ! treating ur own fan and beating him up and putting in jail etc.,😕

Coz no Fan went to watch Fan 😆

it didn't have a heroine or songs and most importantly it is a Niche movie. Thus it flopped . How can I forget People protested for his statement too 😆😆😆 🤣

Global Superstar didn't have his signature hand scenes thus it flopped. Oh wait ..It did even then it flopped.

Honestly ,The first half was good but second half sucked . The director seemed lost.

movie was blah, when you read critics review it like it is next masterpiece and than you see a half baked product at theatre. Movie would never do well.
On top of that there was no masala factor which could flood the single screen.
On the whole it was neither a good content movie nor it had entertainment, bound to fail. SRK tha ishi 80+ crore kamaya, warna woh bhi nahi milta.

only entertaining thing was the song jabra fan not the SRK one but the parody song with KRK face on SRK's body

Very little promotions just before release, many people didnt even know it had released

Jabra song was not there in the movie, I even heard some audience members complaining at the end, Where is the song? Absence of Jabra song disappointed some fans who were already loving that song since it was released. They shd have included the song in the beginning when they showed Gaurav obsessing abt his idol.

No heroine, no romance angle.

Ending was tragic, some people didnt like Gaurav dying in the end as they really empathized with him as the obsessed fan.

Some people didnt understand the complicated plot and the references to SRK's own career.

SRK was brilliant in both roles, 2 of his best performances. Gaurav was exceptional.

Fan has 82% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and over a period of time this movie will gain a cult status as often happens with such films.
