They made a bad movie.
Concept should have been a star helping a fan by inspiring him to do something good in life . Not killing his fan.
Watch Dhanak. It revolves around SRK fans , SRK isn't even shown but how he touches those kids life is amazing. You'll know where Fan faultered if you see Dhanak.

The wall/house jumping scenes were too long. It only suits Salman in Sultan.

Its a thriller, not an emotional, feel good movie.
Thats not how thrillers work. Its a different genre.

In the end, Gaurav shd have survived the fall, but shown as losing his memory and he has forgotten all abt his idol. Aryan would be relieved yet disappointed that his fan has forgotten him. A bittersweet feeling for him.

But in the end, Gaurav winks at the camera...meaning he was pretending not to recognize his idol.
That would have been a terrific ending.😉 An open ending too.

Loved FAN! SRK's performance was absolutely pitch perfect! He brought out the cold avatar of a superstar and the crazy-ness of a hard-core diehard fan just brilliantly. I wished the chase sequences were altered to be shorter. It dragged on till the gravity of it was lost. But, I loved the ENDING. It was the only plausible ending possible. I mean who exactly in society would accept Gaurav after all the shit he's pulled. Death was the only option!
Thanks for giving me my SRK back. This was the 1st movie of his I watched in the theatre since CDI! Worth it! 😃👏

I loved it. Of course, it had its flaws and is by no means a perfect movie...but still refreshingly different and overall well-executed. As for your question...IMO masses don't want to see dark, downer type of stuff. Happy endings, heroes, martyrs, and inspirational figures work best for entertainment...not a depiction of anomalous, discomforting, failing members of society...and especially not when this depiction speaks to the negative effects of the very same medium through which it is shown. Average person doesn't want to see such adverse consequences of the entertainment they're out seeking.

And masses hate when their hero is vulnerable. They want them to always succeed.

The only issue i saw with the film was that it used a trivial sorry to encompass a full film.. And yeah chasing Scenes were long

Why are there no decent thrillers coming out of Bollywood?

Just finished watching Knives Out (for maybe the third time), and it’s just so brilliantly constructed — sharp writing, layered characters, and...
