If any of you have been through marriage proposals well I think that would perfectly show why showbiz is the way it is..
It matters little whether the girl if well educated, has a good job, nice persona unless she is fair. Sab ko BAS gori ladki chahiye.

forget about movies, we are so unhealthily obsessed with skin color that we don't even spare our deities. we prefer unnatural blue color for krishna or mahakali over their natural black color. this is such a huge thing but mostly goes unnoticed. we are so accustomed to this whole issue that even the "wanted fair bride" ads don't bother us.

Dude, there is no such thing as "Indian" looking. We all look so different. Aish or Kat could easily pass for Punjabis or Kashmiris.. who are very much Indian as well.

I wouldn't make this distinction if BW didn't. Also, the a good number of Indians are brown, no shame in that.

My question is- are only people who look so-called 'Punjabi or Kashmiri' allowed to be on screen? Aish happens to be South Indian. Doesn't that mean you think there is a South Indian look?

It just seems convenient that the mixed Indians you see in movies happen to be half-white. No half-black or half-Chinese actors. Basically, you have to be white passing. Seems like an inferiority complex to me.
