Have you guys noticed in most bollywood movies a Nepali person is always shown as a watchman or a driver or sometimes as lone hotel attendant? They always talk like "Hello Shabjee" with some weird accent?
I have many Nepali friends. They all do good jobs and are in every competitive field. I also talked to atleast 3 Nepali folks born and brought up in Nepal and they speak perfect hindi without any lisp. None of them are watchmen or hotel attendants. One is in IT, the other runs a restaurant and the third works for government job.

Discuss.

the same reason why Sikh sardars are generally shown as idiots, Biharis are shown as Leech, Gujjus are shown kanjoos businessperson, Tamil are shown as scientists, Bengalis are shown as snooty elites and so on.
BW is hella hot ignorant.

But it does show Sardars as businessmen or taxi drivers. I could say for Tamil also it can also show them as restaurant owners. Yeah you raise a valid point and I agree. Perhaps geographic wise some people are good being government works vs businessmen. But to paint a while freaking country as people who speak with a lisp and saluting as Shabjee is delusional as f**k. That's like saying all Nepalese are mountain climbers. 😆

Bollywood stereotypes a lot of things...half of them are unwilling to hire good script n screenplay writers coz of nepotism etc ...but the scenario is not as bad as it was in 60s-70s ...a lot of stereotypes have been broken..."cool" films work...I don't remember any recent movie stereotyping Nepali people

In nepali film industry also, indian people are stereotyped. In all nepali movies, all indian are shown black with weird accent, they used racist slur "dhoti" which majority of nepali people call indian people in reality. Indian people skin colour are black which is the reality too.. Their character is always rikshawala, toilet cleaner or theif etc. ( Most of the indian people in nepal work as toilet cleaner, rikshwala, thief especially bihari people.)

Indian is not ethnicity unlike nepali.
