Hi Friends 🤗🤗🤗
So we know the hobbies/ special interests of quite a few of the main characters of our show.
Swara & Ragini---Are passionate about music; Swara plays the guitar consummately (and sings marvelously); Ragini is a virtuoso on the Sitar (and sings like a Nightingale, to boot).
Sanskaar and his passion for gardening---well, lets not go there too much now. 😊 I will probably end up writing pages and pages and more pages; about how this hobby reflects so much about the layered, grounded, patient and nurturing facets of this man's personality. 😳
Lakshya-- Likes to box. (An avid interest/ hobby he also shares with his Bhai).
It struck me that we do not know anything about the hobbies of the others. Why don't we put on our thinking caps and come up with the most likely special interests/ passions/ hobbies they might have? 😉 😈
After all, Hobbies are of central importance to our psychological well-being. In the first epistle of his Moral Essays, Alexander Pope said that if you really want to know someone, you must find out their "ruling passion." How they chose to spend time that was theirs, Pope argued, told deeper truths about people, than the role that birth or society had foisted upon them.
In All the Names, Jose Saramago says that hobbyists act out of "metaphysical angst, perhaps because they cannot bear the idea of chaos being the one ruler of the universe, which is why, using their limited powers and with no divine help, they attempt to impose some order on the world." 😊
So with this background, let us imagine what the other characters would like to do in their spare time, things that reflect their inner natures. 😉 😊
My contributions, for what they are worth 😊:
1) Dadi---Butterfly collection. She strikes me as just the person, who would chase lovely, fluttering butterflies, catch them in a fine mesh net; and then impale them on foam plastic, in a glass covered box. 😕 😡 🤢
2) Dadaji: Reading Harry Potter. That's where he learned how to apparate into and out of their home at the baadi, with such consummate ease. 😆😆 Unfortunately, during his botched first attempts at apparating from baadi to Maheshwari House (where else do the Gadodias go to, anyway!!), he splinched himself and lost much of his vocal chords. The reason why he hardly ever speaks! 😈😈
3) Shekar: Digging for Dinosaur fossils. If he ever finds an Argentinosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Mapusaurus or Tyrannosaurus skeleton with an intact backbone, he would get surgical assistance to implant it where his spine should be! Anything to shore up the jelly he has in its place! 😈😈
4) Sujju: Watching Jane Fonda's antics in Monster in Law. 😉 😆 Of course, while Sujju has a highly overdeveloped melodramatic side, she is ultimately a sweetie (if with somewhat sour, tangy undertones. 😉)
Just as Jane Fonda ultimately welcomes Jennifer Lopez (ugh, ugh!!--but that's another story...😛😉) as her DIL, with open arms...
I'm really caught up in work today, and unable to devote enough time to think of hobbies for the others--Shomi, Dida, Durga Prasad, Annapurna, Ram Prasad, Adarsh, Parineeta, Uttara. (Annapurna is anyway a singer par excellence...😊, but others...need to think).
Please do contribute your views and suggestions. 😊
And in the interest of maintaining a peaceable and harmonious discussion, let us all please avoid comparing the 4 main leads...their hobbies are anyway known. 😊
