@Subha and Mione, I completely agree with you'll. Look at Kangana, everyone here, including me, had written her obituary after the HR fiasco but she goes and wins a NA and keeps on signing the best movies. If bad image in people's eyes was a criterion then a Kangana should also have suffered or even Salman for that matter. At the end of the day the quality of the movie and your connect with the audience determines success or failure of the movie IMO.
Like every actor has his niche, Salman has masala, Aamir has the relatively intelligent serious movie genre, SRK had romance, KR has her women oriented roles, Ranbir had his coming of age romantic comedies and dramas, Katty has her light fluffy roles.
I think actors departing from their core genre hits them the hardest and only if the movie is really exceptionally good like CDI was in SRK's case will the movie be successful. I think every actor should first find his genre which displays his strengths and is loved by fans and only then experiment but only with really good scripts. Like a Varun Dhawan can do a Badlapur and still come back to Dishoom cause masala is his bread and butter and only if his many core audience movies are successful can he embark on experimenting with other genres.
Some actors I feel are also unsuccessful cause they haven't been able to find that one genre which becomes eponymous with their name...this I feel is the reason behind failure of actors like Shahid and ABJr who have been all over the place.
