A lister I think who is liked by a fanbase, lands magazine covers, has many ads, who people look up to for fashion for instance basically people are interested in them. They are mostly quite good looking too though there are exceptions. It has nothing to do with talent and even BO IMO.
I am rather terrible in BO so please don't throw figures at me. But the biggest case I can think of A Listers are Bebo, Sonam, Deepika and Anushka. They have always been A List regardless of BO almost from the beginning IMO. Now in the case of the guys, though Ranbir is having a hard time at the currently BO he still is A list. The same cannot be said of an Arjun IMO.
