Salman's lawyers reach 200 crore club

Apparently, there is a mad scramble between lawyers to take up Salman's case as Govt, plans to challenge the acquittal.

"Even if the acquittal is challenged, everyone knows that he will be let off by the higher courts too. Just that it will give us a chance to enter the club," said a lawyer who didn't wish to be named, hopeful of breaking the 200Cr barrier.

"This is just the beginning, i hope this verdict will encourage more bollywood actors and we will break the 300 Cr barriers too," he added.

Sources say the bollywood actor along with his legal team are planning a party at the actors farmhouse to celebrate the success.

Faking News reporter spoke to a legal expert who has been following the case closely. "Salman's movies may not follow any script but the proceedings inside the court do follow one and that is Bhai is innocent'. Just like audience are expected to leave their brains outside before entering the theater, lawyers and judges are expected to do the same when they enter the courtroom," said a senior high court lawyer.

Meanwhile, there were some lawyers who were critical of the 100 Cr club' mentality. "These people are undermining the role of judiciary. The law takes it own course and we should not fall in to this trap of crore club'. I had the chance too, but chose not to fall in that trap," said the lawyer who fought Sanjay Dutt's illegal arms possession case.

Hastimal Saraswat has been associated with Salman Khan for 18 years.

For 18 years, Jodhpur-based advocate Hastimal Saraswat, 62, has been associated with actor Salman Khan, representing him in four cases against him in Rajasthan courts.

On Monday, when the Rajasthan High Court acquitted the actor in two cases of chinkara poaching, a relieved Saraswat credited it to his "hard work and professionalism".

"It is because of this professionalism that I have never clicked a photograph with him in all these years," he told The Indian Express.

An advocate since 1978, Saraswat said he was approached by the Khan family in 1998. "When the cases were first lodged, they approached some local advocates. Some senior advocates from Mumbai came here too. Within a week, they settled for me," he said.

"Initially, Salman's father Salim Khan and both his wives, Salma and Helen, used to come here with Salman's sister Alvira. For a decade now, only Alvira has been visiting Jodhpur and closely working with us on the case," he said.

Saraswat said he has never visited Khan's home in Mumbai, but added that he attended Salman's sister Arpita's wedding in November 2014.

Though Saraswat "assisted" senior advocate Mahesh Bora, 66, in the High Court, the latter was engaged by Salman only around October last year.

Reacting to the order, Bora said, "Justice is delivered as the most fabricated and concocted case was established by the police against Salman."
