Twinkle has every right speak against bitter and forever jealous Naseer becoz it's about her dead father
But, why on earth kjo poking his nose?

Why is he acting like Jagat Pita?

Is KJo very close to Rajesh Khanna or something? Why is he giving his two cents in this matter when Twinkle has already spoken about it.

He did not just say Rajesh Khanna was a bad actor, in fact this is the exact quote.

In an interview to a newspaper, Naseeruddin was quoted as saying: "It was the 1970s when mediocrity came in Hindi films. That's when the actor called Rajesh Khanna joined the industry. For all his success, I think Mr. Khanna was a very limited actor. In fact, he was a poor actor. Intellectually, he wasn't the most alert person I have ever met. His taste ruled the industry."

He is entitled to call Rajesh Khanna a bad actor, he cannot blame mediocrity of the industry on him. Rajesh Khanna is not whole of BW nor was he the only taste maker dictator of BW. In fact he did not write scripts, produce movies or direct to my knowledge. So how the hell is he that influential ? Hell, KJO and Adi are more influential today than even Salman or SRK or Aamir as they are the true gatekeepers and taste makers.

@Bold

Nasseruddin Shah is entitled to say Rajesh Khanna or anyone else is a bad actor. He has no right to say he wasn't intellectually an alert person. He called him an idiot using big words. How dare he ? What arrogance If I was in Tina's place and anyone said that about my father I would have driven to his house and hit him, no matter his age even if I was slapped with a lawsuit. She is a better woman than I am. KJO and Tina should have ripped him a new one. They are better people than Nasserudin Shah.

If anyone celeb or non celeb called Salman or SRK or any actor using those words here I would have the same reaction. Saying someone is a bad actor and calling someone stupid is entirely different. Nasserudin Shah is losing it. There I called Nasserudin Shah stupid directly for calling Rajesh Khanna stupid instead of using big words and not because I am intellectually slow 🤔

I agree that the personal jab taken by NS at RK wasn't a nice thing to do.He should have been more sensitive with his words and hence a daughters reaction is understandable however what I am most against is the likes of KJO who feel the fraternity needs to stand by each other - right or wrong. That is wrong, period.

Had KJo responded as a close friend who was hurt for his friend, I'd get it. He chose to call NS unbecoming of a fraternity member which basically says that no one from the industry should have a less than flattering comment for another from the industry. Imagine his reaction if a newcomer said he didn't think AB was any good. This bunch will have him banned from the ''fraternity''.

Kjo had nothing to say when Salman Khan made the rape comment. That he understood. NS, however, unbecoming of being a fraternity member coz he called a bygone superstar dumb. That says it, doesn't it.

Naseer did not have the commercially sellable face. But art films in 70s brought his talent out and made him popular throughout India. But as soon as he tasted success in first commercial movie Tridev in late 80s, he started bad mouthing experimental movie industry saying, actors there are never paid well. His colleagues like Deepti Naval etc disagreed with him. Many felt, he is kicking the very industry which made him famous, just because it did not have high budget.
Now him criticising Rajesh Khanna shows, he had deep insecurities within since long.

Mediocre movies were always present. Not all the movies by Dilip Kumar (before Rajesh Khanna) are gems. Also, there were always good films which were not main stream masala. Audience were there for both. Amitabh's masala and Satyajit Ray's parallel cinema. I tend to like the bridge movies (kind of movies acted by Balraj Sahni, movies directed by Gulzar) amongst old films. Everyone has different taste. One should not be judgemental.

KJO is a close friend of Twinkle. A very close friend. So close that he wrote the role Tina for his very first film KKHH for her. Tina is based on her. Twinkle is also called Tina. She refused the role because she said it is SRK-Kajol and she would not be able to compete with the chemistry. So the role went to Rani. But Twinkle was the one he wrote the role for. This is all documented and he said so in a KWK IIRC.

ETA; Even if KJO is not a friend of Tina, why should he be expected to respect Nasserudin Shah, but Nasserudin Shah can call Rajesh Khanna stupid, but a daughter should not defend her father and if she defends she must do it respectfully. KJO cannot defend Rajesh Khanna unless he knows Tina personally. Why can't KJO defend Rajesh Khanna because he respected him as an actor. Nasserudin Shah was rude and crude and comes across as jealous and petty. Why should others not call him out and need a personal relationship to do so. I don't care how talented Nasserudin Shah is , he is an a-hole for calling a dead man stupid. Period. End of and anyone can call him out on that. Nobody me on a message board and film fraternity KJO. If Nasserudin Shah wants respect, give respect first. Batameezi first can be responded with Batameezi too but Tina was respectful and KJO was restrained.

You missed my point completely.

One, two wrongs NEVER make a right.

Two, it's not right to use the fraternity card.

Off topic: If I thought someone was stupid, I'd say it whether he is alive or dead.If someone has been a prick when they were alive, it is absolutely okay to call them one when they are dead.

I think we are missing each other's point. Rajesh Khanna may have been stupid, who knows, I never met the man. Raj Kapoor was a Tharki. Does not change the fact because they are dead nor do they become saints. But this world works because we have filters and are polite. We can think whatever we want, say whatever we want. But you and I saying it on a message board and Nasserudin Shah saying it in an interview are totally different things. My point is, give respect if you expect respect.

I agree with you @mrsfunnybones...due respect to seniority but this was in exceptionally bad taste and not becoming of a fraternity member..

I do not find anything wrong in what KJO said above. What Nasserudin Shah said was in exceptional bad taste. It could even have been true, who knows like I said I never met Rajesh Khanna and NS knew him. But we do not call people, especially dead people stupid in a civilized society. He could have said he did not consider Rajesh Khanna a good actor and stopped with that. In a perfect world 100% honesty would work. But it works only on a message board hiding behind anonymous names. I have come out strongly against Nasserudin Shah here but do you think I would tell what I wrote here to his face if I were to meet him. Not if I do not want him to react in anger. I would probably say something very nice about his work though my true opinion is he is losing it. But we hide behind polite masks in public. That is how the world works. If you want to be opinionated fine. But there are consequences to that opinion. See, you and I disagree on this very board and we are polite. But honestly if this was said about someone you or I know it would become personal very fast. So I think too for KJO and especially Tina.
Nasserudin Shah apologized and that I liked.
