Aawaaz Dee Hai --- The Yearning
The door bell rang. She raced out of her room but not before having a last look at the room with a bashful smile. Every second was precious and not to be wasted and so she quickly paced down the stairs in full speed and halted about two feet away from the main door.
She was panting for breath. She had applied breaks to her legs but her heart wouldn't listen. It raced faster and she had to place her gentle palm on her chest trying to calm it. She couldn't. She started taking deep breaths to cool herself.
Her Yashji was back after a few months. She was waiting for his return with eagerness. They were married for about 8 months now.
She kept thinking of all the conversations she had had with him ever since he had been away. YES --- she had fallen in love with him just as he had right from the start.
The bell rang again and this time she had to hasten her move towards the door and open it.
Her gaze at the floor, shifting towards his shoes, her lips beaming with a smile and her eyes almost moist with tears!
Yash stood there looking at his wife --- she was just beautiful in every way.
She moved a bit and allowed him in. He walked in with his strolley in tow. She now held the handle of it brushing his fingers with hers. He allowed her to pull it for him.
There was silence.
Yash coughed a bit to draw her attention to the stillness around.
She looked at him for a fraction of a second and asked softly: Are you hungry?
Yash smiled though she hadn't seen him. He kept smiling when she finally looked up at him for an answer when he straightened his face and said: Yes!
She quickly responded: I'll lay dinner in just a few minutes for you. It is all ready!
She turned leaving the strolley where it was, when he held her hand.
He moved closer to her and said: I've eaten at the flight.
She understood. She did not say a word.
She now slowly started leading him to their room. He followed her silently. She entered and switched on the lights.
Yash was still staring at his wife when she let go of his hand and moved away. She was drawing his attention towards something.
The wish of hers was obvious in the decoration around and on the bed!
Flowers and more of them!
Yash was smiling and inspected the detailing of her choice and display.
Aarti kept standing looking down, waiting to see what he would make of it.
Yash came to her and she flashed a big smile.
Yash: I missed you Aarti!
She smiled again.
Yash: Did you miss me?
She moved away as she could not tell him how much she missed him. It was almost impossible for her to carry on being separated from him.
He held her from behind in a gentle hug and said: I know you did! The room says it all!
She did not want to spoil this moment, however she couldn't help herself and she turned around and buried her head in his chest and started sobbing. He held her warmly close to him.
A few moments later she moved apart and dried her tears.
Aarti: You must be tired. Please freshen up Yashji.
Yash left to the wash room to freshen up. Aarti was now feeling better. She looked all around the room and waited with a lot of hope about the coming moments.
Both had waited to get to know each other as theirs was a marriage which happened suddenly. Yash was her saviour when she was heartbroken.
She never thought it could happen to her but it did.
Yash knew though that she was the one for him. He gave her enough time to realise that she was his choice and not a circumstantial happening.
Now Aarti was convinced.
Yash came out and saw Aarti deep in thought.
A cough again to pull her out of her world and she looked at him with a frown.
Yash laughed and said: Aarti! Is it you?
Aarti: You can't be wearing this!
He was in his Tee and track pant. He threw his hands apart and said: What's wrong?
Aarti walked up to the ward robe and brought out a spotless white kurta and pyjama. She handed it to him and looked at him with a sweet smile.
Yash: Are you sure about this one?
Aarti nodded with a smile.
Yash: As you wish!
And he disappeared.
Only to reappear looking heavenly --- pure --- just like he was --- just as she had envisioned him to be! Her perfect man!
He walked up to her and said: Is this fine?
Aarti hugged him.
Both headed towards the bed.
Two hours later
She walked in with a tray of some fruits and milk. Yashji was fast asleep under the sheets.
She placed the tray near the side table and sat next to him on the bed.
He turned and slowly opened his eyes. Staring at her --- glowing eyes!
He took a deep breath and sat up pulling the sheet over his chest. She looked down and quickly handed his kurta to him and turned away.
A few seconds later he said: You are safe and you can see me NOW!
She smiled and looked at him only to break into a loud laughter that sort of annoyed him.
Yash: Aarti, now what?
She pointed towards the kurta which was stained with her sindoor. And she continued with her laughter!
Yash: Well if that's the cause of your laughter then,
He pulled her close to him turned her around and pointed his finger to the mirror.
The reflection saw the two of them --- his kurta with sindoor marks and her face smeared the same way. Both kept smiling at each other in the mirror.
Aarti then spoke: Thank you.
Yash hugged her tight.

Yash rang the bell again and she opened the door.
She looked at him once and then let him in.
Yash was waiting for her to pull the strolley for him but she didn't. He pulled it in himself.
Aarti spoke as always with her lowered gaze: Are you hungry?
She somehow wasn't able to contain her laughter though, in anticipation of his answer.
Yash said: No!
She looked up in surprise --- disappointed at what she heard.
Yash: I've eaten at the flight!
Aarti moved closer to him and said: Yashji, you know what I meant, didn't you?
Yash nodded simply with great sincerity.
Yash: I really did not know what you meant?
By then they were disturbed by the voices of two girls who came there in support of their Dad.
Palak and Payal: Pappa, we too never understand what mumma wants most of the time.
They ran to their Dad and he hugged them.
He loved his daughters and Aarti was miffed that all three took sides and she was left alone.
Yash put the girls down and said: Want to see what I've got for you two?
He showed them all the gifts he got for them and took them to their room.
Aarti was waiting at the hall for him.
He came to her after a while and whispered: They are fast asleep. So are you ready to lead me yet again?
Aarti looked at him: Where to?
Yash: Where your desire could be fulfilled. I mean your hunger.
Aarti did not budge!
Yash: Okay, mine too...now shall we go?
Aarti followed him and as they reached their room, she said: Yashji, I need to tell you something.
Yash shut the door behind them and asked: Are you already full?
Aarti looked at him, kept staring at him and fell in his arms. He held her and made her lay down on the flower decked bed. He sprinkled some water over her face to bring her to consciousness.
She opened her eyes and smiled: Its twins again Yashji!
Yash couldn't believe it!
Yash: Are you sure Aarti?
Aarti broke into her laughter again.
Yash: Come on, tell me Aarti.
Aarti got up and said: Well that's my wish for this night! I am indeed hungry!
Yash loved his naughty wife and her antics more and more.
How could he not fulfil her cravings? He did!
And so did Almighty by blessing them with twin boys this time!
No guesses for the naming ceremony though!😃
