Parineeti to romance Diljit in the remake of Chameli ki Shaadi?

Phantom Films wants it that way

SpotboyE.com was the first to tell you that Phantom Films have bought the remake rights of the 1986 hit Chameli Ki Shaadi (Phantom Boys beat Shah Rukh Khan to remake Chameli Ki Shaadi, June 5).

We now hear, Rohit Jugraj will be directing the remake.

We also hear that the makers are keen to sign Parineeti Chopra for the title role of Chameli which was played by Amrita Singh in Basu Chatterjee's original.

And for Anil Kapoor's role, Phantom wants Diljit Dosanjh who made his Bollywood debut in Ekta Kapoor's Udta Punjab.



For those who've come in late, the Chameli Ki Shaadi remake was the first decision that the four talented filmmakers at Phantom-- Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl, Madhu Mantena and Anurag Kashyap- took, after their ambitious venture Shaandar crashed. The project will be a co-production with Deepak Mukut, who prefers to be a partner in the remake of films whose negatives belong to him. Shah Rukh Khan wanted to buy the rights of Chameli Ki Shaadi from Mukut --- but by then, Mukut had already struck a deal with Phantom's money-handler Mantena (who produced Ghajini).
