Chapter 1.

"Oberois" said a man sitting with his friends on the roadside. He was holding a newspaper. The other guy next to him just shrugged and said, "they are not that big anymore. This generation of theirs really did pull them down."

"aur nahi toh kya?" said the other. "this family has been in controversy for the past few days like never before. The eldest son was surrounded by controversy from the day he broke his engagement to his fiance and instead announced his marriage to a no name poor girl."

"yeah and then on the day of the wedding she didn't even turn up to the wedding." Snickered the third man. "poor thing, media says that he didn't allow them to take down the mandap till night, hoping that she would come." Even though the man said those words it was evident that he felt no sympathy for this man, he was just finding it funny. The strong Shivay Singh Oberoi was abandoned by a mere girl.

"and not only that. Did you not hear? Omkara Oberoi too was swept up in controversy. Who could have believed that such a rich guy was involved in drug abuse?"

"but is it really true? I mean even if it is he doesn't do it anymore."

"and how do you know that? He must still be doing it. I am sure. His car had crashed it seems just a few days back. I am sure nasha karke chala raha tha."

All the man around snickered.

"I wouldn't be surprised. The youngest of them, Rudra, he too is like that. Booze, women and party. For being so rich this people surely have no good upbringing."

"true, its better to be like us then. At least we know our roots."

"they are laughing at us." Tej said as he got up from his seat and slammed his hands on the table. The table shook sending the papers flying in the air.

"calm down Tej." Said Svetlana as she moved closer to him around the table. "it's just for a few days. The media will soon forget it."

"people are mocking us, Svetlana."

"let them"

"I won't. We are Oberois. These poor people are supposed to be in awe of us. Not mocking us!"

Suddenly he picked up a vase and threw it at the window shattering both. Svetlana ducked under the table to avoid the glass pieces flying everywhere but Tej stood there, fire burning in his eyes. He didn't care what his sons and nephew did with their life, but he couldn't bear being laughed at. And it was all that girl's fault. He would destroy her. No matter what his son said.

Rudra sighed. He was sitting at the edge of his dadi's bed. She was still sleeping. She had been sleeping since that horrible day when Shivay bhaiya had returned home broken, lost, shattered. Since the day the media had announced on every other channel that Om Bhaiya had been in rehab for his addiction. Rudra didn't know of this. He never knew anything. His brothers had always shielded him from the harshest truths of their family.

And today they were totally broken. And his dadi. A tear escaped his eye. His dadi was their support system. Nothing had made this strong lady falter. But that day when her Eldest grandson had come home drenched in rain, with his eyes dead she had gasped. When the news of Om's past had hit the channels she had trembled. And when Shivay had called from the hospital to tell that Om had met with an accident and was in the hospital his dadi had lost. She had fainted and not woken up yet. The doctors all said she'll be fine but to Rudra that was not enough. He was scared. Scared for his dadi. Scared for his brothers. Scared for himself. Without these people in his lives he'd never be able to survive.

He walked out of the room. As he was passing by his mom's room he stopped. When he looked inside his mom was passed out on the bed with bottles of alcohol on the floor. He walked in, straightened her and covered her with a blanket. He looked down at her. She looked tired. She always did. He couldn't remember when he had last seen her smile. No wait, he did. On the day of Shivay's wedding. Everyone was so happy. Even his father. He was happy because Shivay was marrying someone poor. Except for Pinky chachi everyone was happy. And then Anika di, no that woman, she never showed up. Shivay bhaiya waited till midnight and then suddenly stormed out scared that something might have happened to her. But when he came back he was just a soulless shell. He hadn't come out of his room for hours.

But then when Rudra had gone running to his room, banging on his door to tell him about Om bhaiya's name being flashed on all news channels, Shivay had come out. Like a true elder brother, he had assured Rudra and Dadi that everything will be fine. He had gone out and searched for Om everywhere. And in the end when no one had found him, only Shivay did. If it hadn't been for Shivay finding Om...no he didn't want to think of it. Om bhaiya was out of danger.

When he reached the stairs he immediately felt like throwing up. His uncle was nowhere to be seen and his aunt was busy on the phone trying to convince Tia to think again about Shivay. Had she not seen the state her son had been in a few days ago? As for his own father, he hadn't even bothered to go to the hospital to see his eldest son. Only Shivay and he had gone to Om. And even now only Shivay was there at the hospital with him. It was not that they couldn't bring Om home, but Shivay didn't want that. He didn't want to bring Om here right now. And for the first time in his life Rudra understood why.

I know. Too depressing right now. But from the next chapter on wards I'll start the story of how all these characters reached this point.

I know that mostly Omkara was not a drug addict but rather an alcoholic but I kind of have this soft side for heroes who have been to the lowest and sprung back up. And it gives me so many ideas for how Shivay helped his brother when he was beyond help.

Also Sorry for not replying to comments. But I have read all of them. So please keep them coming. It encourages me to write. So then. Bye for now. Tell me what you'll thought of the chapter.

The teaser looks promising and sounds great. I can decode it like this.

Om is prejudiced about love and happily ever after relationship and feels whatever she tells or promises are lies. the environment in which he has grown up (his parents) and also I can suspect a last love, has made him pessimistic about love and marriage and the girl had to be really strong enough to believe in her love and win him over. Will be worth writing as well as reading this part of Om.

Shivay is angry at Anika may be because she has let him down (chose her brother over Shivay or had been pressurized by his mom) which he feels as betrayal. His mother would have made it look like Anika as a Gold digger and hence he ishurt beyond consolable limit and is not ready to hear her out. Just hope his mom has not made a cooked up story of Anika double crossing Shivay with any of his brothers. Can expect a promising story here.

Rudra would have played with the girl and moved on thinking it as a time pass. the innocent girl who gave him her heart & soul (???) as she truly loved him was trashed by this and to teach him a lesson she will try hard and ensure that he loves her equally or irrevocably and then after hearing his confession will move ahead leaving him behind with a jerk which will make him completely broken and he will start realizing the actions which would have broken girls. Eager to read more about this pair as well.

Hahaha... I just posted about the teaser and you updated chapter 1 ...

Chapter 1 was soo good.. The suspense "why didn't Anika showed up ?" is gripping me...

The chapter was emotional and I really liked the fact that it was from Rudra's POV...
