After waiting for 4 hours, all I got was four minutes of Lisa's time! And you would be shocked to find out why she decided to walk out of this chat...
Lisa Haydon was at MTV India's upcoming show India's Next Top Model's season 2 press conference. It was my first television story coverage and I braved the Mumbai rains, conquered the maddening traffic and reached the venue at 4:34 sharp with an umbrella and notepad in my hand right in time to attend the event! Little did I know then that I won't get to use the notepad. There were barely any media people at the venue leave alone the chief guests of the show - including Lisa. I spent the first hour without complaining as a one hour delay in media events is a norm (as suggested by my colleague).
The event finally kick-started with the emcee inviting the the guests on stage one by one. After the other dignitaries, Lisa Haydon - the top-model' made a rather awkward entry, acknowledging nobody and posing for the camera straight. She held her head high, tilted her body in an angle, exposed the slit in her dress, sucked in her stomach and viola there she was ready to give the perfect magazine cover' shot.

While the other guests seemed relaxed Lisa looked self absorbed. After a good one hour question-and-answer round on the show the PR showed me the way to the hall where the rest of the interviews were to take place. With my 3 inches heels on, I waited for yet another hour to get an interview with Lisa Haydon. My enthusiasm was intact even as I waited for the model-turned-actress to come answer my meticulously planned questions. But hell, the PR team finally got there without Lisa, warning me that I will not ask Lisa any questions on her controversial feminist remark. As a newbie I was just thrilled to get a decent interview and even went ahead to assure that my questions would be about her work only.

Finally she was there standing right with me . I watched her dole out interviews before mine. I was tired waiting for mine, even then when she arrived I politely asked her, "you must be tired?' and for some reason even tried to soothe her by speaking on behalf of my fellow journos who had interviewed her, "it's a part of our job, right". I got a inkling of how the interview is going to be at that very moment. She was cold and kept a straight face. No acknowledgement of pleasantry I just expressed and she behaved like I was non-existent. It was only when the cameras started rolling that she finally saw me there despite standing just a few inches away from me. Was she intimidating? Yes! Was she badly behaved - not yet.
Not the one to let anyone dampen my spirit I let the whole exchange pass and started with asking her about Housefull 3 and her choice of movies. What is it that she enjoyed more - acting or modelling? I then moved on to quiz her about her cameo in Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. After answering this Lisa interrupted and asked if I was going to talk to her about the show.
Considering that we had already sat through a one-hour question and answer round on the show at the press con, I told her that we would like to know more about her work in films and continued to do so. Mind you, I hadn't asked her about her controversial feminist statement or anything else. However, seems like Lisa wanted to play safe when we asked her about the most stylish celebrity and she excused herself. Before I could realise she was out there talking to her team about how there were no questions on her show and my chat was cut short.
Hey, Lisa I wish someday you're in my shoe to realise how obnoxious you were and how drained I was waiting there for you for four hours to come and do the most awkward, boring interview I've ever done. And then walk out for being asked to pick the most stylish actor.
